This is what I saw while channel surfing the local news last night. I suppose I shouldn't find a story about a building fire funny, but the newscaster opens with "Fire officials say it was a Voodoo sex ceremony on the fourth floor..."

My friend Nick has done a painting to raise funds for the Christchurch earthquake surviors.
All money from the auction will be going to the surviors.

Humans .. we thought we were good but actually we are pretty shit and getting shitter by the minute .. great video tho! :-)
( , Sat 26 Feb 2011, 22:12, Reply)

tis all true - we are nought but a fart in a hurricane. Pass the noose.
( , Sat 26 Feb 2011, 22:33, Reply)

Don't agree with your summary, though. If the video shows anything it's that we're getting rid of our mistakes and ignorance. Even if it's slow and painful work.
For my part, I'd rather have more insight in the real universe than a mistaken belief that we're all so damn special.
( , Sat 26 Feb 2011, 22:34, Reply)

I really don't think that's true at all. Quite worrying tbh that all that gets promoted by some. I think humans are awesome in every way.

Whenever I walk past a chav mother with half-a-dozen kids, effing and jeffing at them I die a little inside.
( , Sun 27 Feb 2011, 0:27, Reply)

I also hate strangers. They are the reason humans are shit, rather than, say, my kneejerk loathing of total strangers.
( , Sun 27 Feb 2011, 10:14, Reply)

it could be saiid everything comes from consciousness, without awareness, there is no universe or machines. that machine was only created because it was first thought of. That machine is just part of the phenomenon. the noumenon is where it's at dude.
the human mind is pretty damned amazing and still a mystery . not to be dismissed so lighly
( , Sat 26 Feb 2011, 23:43, Reply)

But as Heaping Spoonful said, we are at least trying to be less ignorant even though it is a slow, slooooooow process.

Part 2 easily found.
An art project based on focusing on the faces of people's video self portraits of themselves reaching orgasm.
As I post this it has 1,145 hits, and was posted 11 days ago. It deserves more attention, for lots of reasons.

Haven't watched this short yet, but it is probably exactly one of the things they were after when they set up the website. Its intention was to be art, porn, "real", and to have art students make documentaries about it. (primarily a business though, don't forget ;)
( , Sat 26 Feb 2011, 22:05, Reply)

The art/porn question is raised, but not addressed. Certainly the clips are well shot, and it is done tastefully, but if anything that adds to the eroticism in my view.
I didn't realise there was a website. Purely in the interests of research:
www.beautifulagony.com
Edit: Ah, and indeed it does require a subscription. I suppose the advantage is you can select the gender of the clips you watch, and avoid any uncomfortableness.
( , Sat 26 Feb 2011, 22:43, Reply)

I was surprised when I found out there were blokes doing it as well. I couldn't imagine there being the demand for it to the extent that I though of doing a joke male version. I may still.
( , Sun 27 Feb 2011, 0:03, Reply)

For me, the fact that it has a website, that requires payment to a members area for content... makes it porn. Damn you Marshall Mcluhan.

Getting half a million views in a few days with their first video, the guys decided to make a follow-up video to flight of the bumblebee on 101 bottles.
They had Japanese tv shows skyping them and all this week! Proud of the lads :) It must take some organisation... and drinking...

favourite track: www.youtube.com/watch?v=epvADV9Vr2s

He used to look like Andy Bell wearing an Andy Bell mask. Now he's filled out a bit he seems to fit his own face more, with a softened jawline and... I hope none of this is coming across as a bit gay.
(Not sure about the crowd scenes, though: it gets a bit dancing-with-your-uncle.)

I'm very picky about techno & this is a winner. I prefer it "mild", (like
Roger Sanchez & Robert Miles for example) & this definitely falls into
that category.

my charity mission has led to dark, dark things in my Squee Dungeon. Having Thom Yorke dance non stop to 'Baby Baby Baby' for three months straight possibly wasn't wise, in hindsight. Chuck a quid in if you fancy it, and now there's two hutches with no occupants, in Das Dungeon....*rubs hands* www.justgiving.com/Esther-Harvey
