So, what are we having for lunch today?

It's quite nasty, but I was in a bad mood yesterday and didn't feel like cooking.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:23, Reply)
on brown bread washed down with a cup of tea.
I hope chompy posts the bbc news link soon

He's just playing with you.
I kind of like corned beef. Mark's parents think I love it, and they always prepare corned beef sandwiches for me... and I eat it, but I don't really like it that much.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:26, Reply)
the tinned stuff is just wrongness in a can
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:28, Reply)
They are well posh. I don't mind it, but it doesn't get me crazy.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:30, Reply)
I love pickle. I put a lot of it and mustard, and some pickled egg as well, so that I can't taste the corned beef so much.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:33, Reply)
Looked well nice.

and seeing as it wasn't cooked fully in brine, I'm inclined to believe him.
Although, re-reading and watching I'm not sure now??
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:52, Reply)
I think he's using salt-cured whole beef, which can also be confusingly referred to as corned beef, because of the 'corns' or grains of coarse salt sometimes used in the curing process.

I'll stick to shellfish from now on.

I make a large chunk of it (~4.5kg) for a drinking weekend trip I go on every six months, been doing it for a fair few years now ... I had some left over and thought why not.

It is pay day after all.

and a marmite sandwich.
the soup is still fucking lovely.

my friends just sent me a beautiful boxed set of that divine cheese in the black wax, like a giant bomb. this will go with the 8 cheeses the team bought me earlier.
i am going to have to have a cheese and wine party i think!
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:30, Reply)
I love cheese! I haven't had any proper cheese since I started the diet! I'm going to go for them as soon as I finish (only one day, though, I don't want all my weight back)
Your friend is lovely! Is that the same of the balloon?
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:32, Reply)
i am really lucky, i have some lovely thoughtful friends!
the neals yard cheeses are amazing, but this black waxy bomb thing is absolutely incredible, they have tracked it down for me because they serve it at one of my favourite restaurants in london, and they know i love it.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:34, Reply)
They are amazing! I have never done anything like that for a friend or a partner! I envy you now.
I'm sure you'll enjoy the cheese with wine and good friends, you lucky girl.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:39, Reply)
the cheese is going to be tempting me all afternoon now. especially the stilton. mmm. stilton.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:51, Reply)
I love the flavour in soups, etc, but I don't like the blue cheese
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:54, Reply)
then i discovered the "smelly mushrooms" at saints and scholars in didsbury... ever been there? it is the best hangover food in the world! although they also do some distressingly healthy salads and stir-fries. anyway, this properly converted me to stilton.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:00, Reply)
I'm not a fan of mushrooms either tbh, find them bland and rubbish. Although I did enjoy the porcinis I had a while back...
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:06, Reply)
firstly didsbury is a great night out. secondly, saints and scholars is legendary! don't forget i'm a vegetarian, so to me the cheesy chips and smelly mushrooms are as good as it gets. most people who go there rave about the lamb or the sausages. bleurgh.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:10, Reply)
Served with mustard mash, some veg and gravy. Fooking lovely.

(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:32, Reply)
won't you?
Why do you have to run for 3 hours?

I need to eat, after not eating properly since Monday, I may treat myself to a couscous and sausage salad
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:35, Reply)
Perhaps that is "are the gratings" but it still applies.
And the word sausage does not belong next to salad.
Otherwise, enjoy.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:39, Reply)
I think sausage goes better with chips or mushed potatoes, but salad is good too.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 12:41, Reply)
The best is in a simple Sausage Butty, with ketchup.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:00, Reply)
And everytime I buy a sausage sandwich, I get them. But if I'm making it at home, I'm usually hungover, and can't be bothered.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:27, Reply)
I also heartily endorse getting a big pile of mash and sticking sausages in it at random angles and dousing with gravy, so it looks like sausage and mash from a comic.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:28, Reply)
The only problem is that my gravy for it is always pretty average. I fry the sausages, then mix the juices with bisto, fried onion, and a little Lea&Perrins
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:29, Reply)
Note to self: Get red wine.
That's how I do my steaks though, fry them off, then fry onions, add red wine, pour juice over steak & chips, NOM.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:35, Reply)
could also try using red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar instead.

but that is more of a poncy winebar. we might prefer something a bit more cocktail or pub-like.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:16, Reply)
A nice resturant and a nice cocktail bar would be lovely, you just tell me where and when, and I'll make sure I'm there =)
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:21, Reply)
I agree with you though, I buy free range eggs (I don't often buy chicken), and the size and taste difference is worth the extra cost.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:00, Reply)
I buy the sliced chicken from M&S because it says it's responsibly farmed. All I can do it trust them.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:02, Reply)
Although it's all I used to get from takeaways.
Now, I don't tend to get them at all, so much cheaper to just go home, and get something in the morning.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:04, Reply)
I'd like to buy a chicken and bung it in the oven. But I couldn't face not eating freerange chicken, and that's quite expensive round here. Cunty students
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:04, Reply)
I may just lie down at the gym for an hour and do the odd crunch.

But because it's only a short term contract I'm after, they're going to charge me £43 for the rest of this month (until 1st December), then it'll be £45 for that month, because I'm paying in one go.
The only reason I'm going to this one is because I've got mates there. I'll go for one month next month, then as I'm moving, I won't bother again. Plus, I will just keep notes of the exercises recommended to me!

I had a talk with him on Tuesday night/early Wednesday morning, and he comprehensibly apologised and shit. So I think that thing is moving towards the "alright" end of the spectrum. I'm off home tomorrow, fairly excited for that.
How are you doing?
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:19, Reply)
the best i've managed is JUSTICE.
nothing to do with the job, everything to do with ratting on my 13 year old brother and his mate being lashed on illicit cider.
actually, my friend's nickname is SHREDDER because she once shredded off some guy's boxer shorts and terrified him so much that he ran away from her.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:32, Reply)
Actually, loads of complaints. But that's just because I'm a grumpy cunt.

I'm wondering if it is natural, and I have a tute soon :(
That sounds interesting foodwise. I can't say I've had either of those things before
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:48, Reply)
With plenty of cheese, black pepper and a bit of mustard. I need to cut up and freeze the brick. I will take pictures of it for posterity.
Are you seeing the doctor soon? Maybe talk to them.
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:50, Reply)
but not cheesy/mustardy mash. Haha take pictures of the cheese for future generations 'this is what food looked like'
There's nothing they can do. I saw them on Monday for a prescription refill and doctor's certificate, and they told me it was just something I have to live with

I sincerely hope it's not post viral fatigue or anything. Hope you feel better soon.

part of it is the insomnia ratcheting up a notch. I'm back down to three hours sleep which I can't deal with. Four is sufficient but any diminishment of that leads to tiredness. Everything just becomes fuzzy and hazy
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:57, Reply)
fucking delicious

but for DINNER I am having steak and baked potato and salad
oh man
(, Thu 11 Nov 2010, 13:35, Reply)
Man, I made a stock with two chicken carcases, fifteen bay leaves, four small onions quartered, half a bulb of garlic halved and thirty-odd peppercorns. Lovely lovely lovely soup!
