My cat created a stench so foul in the night that Mrs OCSP and I woke up gagging. Those eggheads at NASA should invent something to stop this from happening, they really should.
Anyone doing anything exciting today?

My sister's kittens were doing the most horrific-smelling shits
she got some kind of supplement from the pet shop or vets that sorted out their gut bacteria. It worked! I'm not sure what it was, I can ask though.

Enterprise is an underrated gem, just skip the opening titles.
I place it above TAS, DS9 and Voyager (which used to be the worst Star Trek until modern Star Trek).
Picard was utter dogshit from start to (please god let this be the) finish. The whole thing was just Picard's advanced Irumodic Syndrome fever dream.

DS9 is basically Star Trek having a crywank over Babylon 5.
It's not complete shit but it was the start of its journey down the Dark Path, which forever dominated its destiny. Star Trek, at its heart, is about free love in a communist scientocratic utopia. DS9 was spiritual ballbaggery in a dystopian space opera.
Babylon 5 is fucking ace at being that, which it has every right to be, because it doesn't claim to be Star Trek.
Which one is SNW again? They all blur into a sludgy mass of smug.

B5 was pitched in 1987, the same year TNG came out.
The suits years later encouraged the writers of DS9 to steal many of the ideas from B5 (without necessarily telling them where the ideas came from).
Ahem indeed.

Just got back from my hearing test
and the right ear, the one with the mysterious vanishing lump, Eustachian tube dysfunction and resident gabber drummer, apparently has a better frequency response than my 'good' ear. Counter-intuitive result.
The test only goes up to 8khz so maybe the loss of brightness I hear is all above that. Still fucking weird. They did a bone transmission test that confirmed whatever is going on is happening behind my ear drum, but I could have told them that.
I still have good hearing for my age, apparently. Yay!
Token attempt at making this a conversation rather than a brb news report: Have YOU had some counter intuitive health tests that I can briefly pretend to care about?

If he's getting physio already that is actually really good. Far better than a 78yo deteriorating in bed in my layman opinion. Seems risky with a broken pelvis but the medical experts are probably acting in his best interest.*
*especially if the ward has had problems with mrsa, sepsis, etc.

Thanks for BScMusTechsplaining that to me.
I tested my own hearing the other day with a hat recording, which has a full audio frequency range. The hat sounded much brighter in my left. This NHS test only used arcade style warbling tones up to 8khz and determined that I can hear those better in my right.
8khz is a little bit sharper than B8, the fundamental frequency of the highest note on a full size piano. Don't try to outnerd me.

Aren't we a weird fucking bunch
Hanging out on this almost dead messageboard
Posting shit
And *parp*
It's strange and tricky

I've already been livid about this travesty for some time
actually hearing some of it is a new level of lividity (lividitude?)

I might make a musical about Jimi Hendrix's performance at the Monterey Pop Festival 1967
thinking about maybe asking Dane Bowers and The Sultans of Ping about a 'collab'

threadrush, threadrush, threadrush
threadrush
threadrush
The threadrush is calling
On its way back from the fire
In August moon's surrender to
A dust cloud on the rise
threadrush fallen far from glory
Reckless and so hungered
On the razors edge you trail
Because there's murder by the roadside
In a sore afraid new world
They tried to break us
Looks like they'll try again
threadrush (threadrush) never lose it
threadrush (threadrush) never chose this way
(threadrush, threadrush) threadrush never close your eyes
threadrush always shine
You got sirens for a welcome
There's bloodstain for your pain
And your telephone been ringing while
You're dancing in the rain
threadrush wonders where is glory
Where is all you angels?
Now the figureheads have fell, fell, fell
And lovers war with arrows over
Secrets they could tell
They tried to tame you
Looks like they'll try again
threadrush (threadrush) never lose it
threadrush (threadrush) never chose this way
(threadrush, threadrush) threadrush never close your eyes
threadrush always shine
