So, how does that work then?

If your body doesn't know it's getting regular food, it'll put on some fat reserves to make sure it can keep going.
You can always have a small lunch if you like.

And also, if you are eating a substantially less amount of calories than your daily recommended intake, then your body goes into a starvation mode, whereby it holds on to fat for dear life in the fear that it won't be getting any more for a while.

I only recently discovered the joys of mushrooms, after years thinking I didn't like them.
I feel foolish now, so many wasted years.

And no, it's not ALL veg - root veg are quite nice, but brassica and legumes can fuck right off.
As for fish, only the least fish tasting fish can be paleted, it's just too much for me...

A year ago she'd only eat onion, potatoes and peppers.
I've managed to convert her to just about all root veg, squashes and a few other things.
Still working on brassica and legumes though. And any kind of fish.

Biggest misconception when it comes to weight loss is that cardio is the most important element. Moderate Weight training will increase lean muscle mass, which eats up extra calories. You don't need to go mad and try to get really beefy... unless you want to that is.

Breakfast: Porridge
Snack: Fruit or low fat yoghurt
Lunch: Chicken sandwich with low fat mayo, bag of reduced fat crisps, low fat yoghurt.
Snack: Fruit
Dinner: Anything I would normally eat really, as long as the portions are reduced. I try avoid fried foods etc though. (but still treat yourself every now and again)
This combined with going to the Gym 3 times a week has lost me a stone since Xmas.
The big thing to remember is that it's not what you eat that is the problem - it's HOW MUCH you eat. The easiest diet in the world is eat what you normally would, but half the portion size.

7am - Gym - Weights (4 times a week)
Breakfast - porrige/Wheatabix + protein shake
no morning snacks
Lunch - Sandwich or salad (lots of lean meat/tuna for protein
Snack - apple + harvest bar
Run - 6 miles plus (3 times a week)
Dinner - Grilled chicken/steak other meat plus a mountain of veg and a pile of carbs.
When i first started this i lost 1 kg a week for 6 weeks, and then maintained a nice healthy weight.
snacking is the real killer when it comes to weight loss, so i try to stave off hunger with drinking lots of water and tea. It's lunch and I've already drank 4 pints of water, 2 cups of tea and a can of diet coke. Loo breaks stop me working too hard and break up the day!

Their is a nice vegan resturant on Berwick street up by the market, think it's called Beetroot.
Best way to loose weight is decent exercise (mix 2-3 weights sessions a week with alternate days of high impact interval training, no more than 40 mins per session) and a decent diet.
Eat high protien healthy foods and reduce the amount of processed carbs you eat. Having 5-6 small meals a day is better than the traditional 3 large meals as it means you're full constantly and it keeps your metabolism fired up and you don't get the post lunch slump in energy.
