There’s a ninety minute Dispatches special on Channel 4 tonight, but none of the listings say what it’s about.

Which they have presumably verified to some extent, is a "co-ordinated attack". Okaaay.

And not some Huw Edwards style storm in a tea cup or some shiela they’ve found now claiming she couldn’t have consented in 2008 because she was coked out of her head before she woke up to discover brand snoring next to her and jizz on her coldplay t-shirt

But I suspect he's going to be significantly closer to Chris Evans than Jimmy Savile on the Predometer.
Probably being accused of using his power/influence to stick his hands down the pants of inebriated junior colleagues. Basically a straight Philip Schofield - but being that the offences were of the heterosexual variety, we won't crucify him quite as severely.
Considering the direction in which he's chosen to take his career, I suspect this kind of exposure will wind up working hugely in his favour - which is a shame.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 11:43, Reply)

This is going to be so much worse than Schofield, who was in a consensual relationship. Schofield was about age inappropriate relationships, power dynamics/grooming, adultery, and dishonesty. If you weren’t such an imbecile relentlessly pushing the gay victimhood narrative, you’d get this. The fact is if Schofield had done what he did with a girl he’d have fared worse as he wouldn’t have morons like you defending the creep. “Phil and Huw did nothing illegal” you bleat. That doesn’t make it OK.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 12:01, Reply)

Weinstein deserved what he got, but let's be honest. The fact that he's old, fat, ugly and Jewish all factored massively in how the public reacted to his crimes. If his victims were young men as opposed to young women, it would have only been worse for him.
There was a distinct lack of torches and pitchforks pointed at Danny Masterson during his trial, no? Not exactly being vilified now that he's been convicted, either? Is he? Wonder how much of that is because he doesn't resemble a giant walking tumour? Or because his victims weren't male?
If you honestly believe that Huw Edwards and Philip Schofield's sexuality didn't play a significant role in how the public reacted to revelations surrounding their behaviour, then I'd suggest it's you that's the fucking imbecile. Or maybe your latent homophobia is severely clouding your judgement?

The only reason Boy George has still got a career was because he beat up and chained up a rent boy. If he’d done that to a female, he’d never have been on tv again. But, you know, it was a rent boy. They know what they’re getting into, they’re practically begging for it.
Let’s talk about transphobia, and how you have named yourself after a character from a relentlessly transphobic sitcom.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 12:36, Reply)

I'm not sure what your point about boy George is. Nobody gives a fuck about prostitutes. Handcuffing one to a radiator during a drug-fuelled psychotic break because you thought they stole your laptop is hardly tantamount to rape, is it? Especially in Facebook court.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 12:46, Reply)

You are named after a character in a relentlessly transphobic sitcom. Fact.
You are excusing the assault and false imprisonment of a rent boy because ‘nobody gives a fuck about prostitutes’. What scum you are.
And all the while you pretend you’re the good guy. Such a lying piece of shit.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 12:55, Reply)

No, sweetheart. I'm not 'excusing the assault and false imprisonment of a rent boy'. I'm trying to explain to you in simple English why Boy George still has a career (if you can call it that) following his conviction for false imprisonment.
I didn't say that I don't give a fuck about prostitutes (I don't, really. But that's besides the point). I said that 'nobody' gives a fuck about prostitutes. That's 'nobody' in the figurative sense - you know, like 'nobody' likes Prufrock, although I'm sure one or two people actually do.
'Nobody' is being used in the context of the public as a whole, who (let's be honest) don't have the same kind of record for speaking up for the rights of prostitutes as they have for campaigning for race/gender/sexual equality. Therefore, Boy George - who was hardly a public figure in 2009 to begin with - getting put away for doing a shitload of coke and handcuffing a prostitute to a radiator isn't going to accumulate anywhere near the same kind of Social Media notoriety as that nasty gay Huw Edwards looking for a bit of completely legal homosexual company, is it? Are you still keeping up? Hope so!
Bit of a weird take to presume I'm pretending to be a 'good guy' by suggesting that there will be significantly less outcry to Russell Brand being a pred because his victims are female. Why does that make me a 'good guy'?
I've genuinely no idea who the fuck Tony Hayers, actually is. But the fact that you're so triggered by him probably isn't the most reliable indication that he's all that awul, let's be honest. Okay, that's a lie. I know he's an Alan Partridge character and that you really, really hate him, but that's about it.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 13:17, Reply)

Why don’t you toast your victory with a pint of lager, a small Baileys and a gin and tonic?
Anyway, I thought your lot called them ‘sex workers’, not prostitutes.

Bez and Ian Brown for a start.

I had to Google what Bez did. Dealt with by a magistrate, who described the assault as “gentle” and merely a “technical breach” of the law according to The Guardian. Only did time as he refused community service. So I call bullshit on that one.
Ian Brown is a psycho. But when has he ever been a highly paid mainstream presenter of prime time light entertainment?

So, like Ian Brown, then.
Who performed on many mainstream shows, and appeared in a Harry Potter film, even after being found guilty of threatening to cut a woman's hands off.
Your theory that there's some sort of gay privilege with these things is nonsense.
( , Mon 18 Sep 2023, 19:34, Reply)

He wasn’t THE presenter, he wasn’t the host, he wasn’t the anchor. He was a major recurring contributor though. He was a judge on a talent show, then a coach on a talent show, held up as role model for contestants.
I’m genuinely surprised that Brown was in a Harry Potter movie. I did not know this. What he did to his ex was worse than the air rage IIRC.
I don’t have a ‘gay privilege’ theory, I’m just trying to counter the cries of ‘homophobia’ when gay people are called out for doing shitty things. Twitter was awash with people claiming that if Huw and Phil were straight there wouldn’t have been a fuss about what they did. The straight privilege theory, if you will. Complete bollocks. I think in Boy George’s case, he’s cut some slack precisely because it was ‘just’ a rent boy, and not some tart with a heart. That’s where the real homophobia is.
( , Mon 18 Sep 2023, 20:35, Reply)

If it was revealed that Huw Edwards or Philip Schofield had been sending a BBC car to pick up a 16 year old boy from his school so that he could be brought to them for sex?
( , Tue 19 Sep 2023, 7:28, Reply)

IIRC Schofield was using an itv car to ferry his teenage friend around. No laws were broken.
Edwards is merely suspended on full pay because diddums got the boohoos, the poor lamb. He’s weeping all the way to the bank. I foresee a big payoff for him too.
So of the two, Phil was way harsher treated.

It might turn out to be one allegation that someone’s willing to make, and then they go out and trawl for statements from every root he’s had until they get enough saying he acted like the entitled pantsman who never called them afterwards that he probably was, to flesh out the show and get the bile rising before they hit you with the big claim
he seemed charming. Shazza told me not to trust him. I should have listened….
I guess we’ll find out, but if it’s pissweak it’ll only build him up
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 12:54, Reply)

The cunts turn it into four hour long episodes, and it kills a good story.
However, Dispatches is usually a little better than that. Maybe they’ve been blinded by the fact it’s a celebrity story. The Sunday Times is involved too, so maybe there is a big story. I wonder if their investigation began before or after Theroux met Ryan.
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 13:06, Reply)

maybe not totally, but enough to make him a pariah with 5 separate ones. reckon it was someone in his management team that spilled the beans
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 22:46, Reply)

Not sure about your management theory. I think it was sheer weight and volume of allegations combined with his general behaviour and creepy admissions on stage. I cannot believe I hadn’t heard about his on air chat with Jimmy Savile before. Still, hypothetically the fallout could get him arrested.
Which paper will be more sanctimonious? The Sun, where he occasionally wrote and awarded him shagger of the year three times, or The Guardian, where he had a weekly column for some time?
( , Sat 16 Sep 2023, 23:10, Reply)

I reckon if you’re a celebrity who likes to root as much a brand claims he did, you’re bound to get 1 or 2 claims. Sex is kind of dangerous and open to misunderstanding and regret and selfishness. But these are 3 solid serious ones imho, and being a celebrity, especially as he’s not some repulsive old fat fuck like Weinstein, cosby or Louis ck, he shouldn’t have needed to hurt women to get a screw. He could easily have been a pantsman without assaulting anyone. sounds like he did, so he deserves what’s coming

Still, it’s the 21st century and rape is more of a faux pas than it used to be. Having said that, Trump was found by a court to have finger raped some poor sheila and he could well be president again notwithstanding. Sounds like much the same crew of apologists are now defending brand
