needs some instructions. was just staring at a solved cube and a bunch of disabled buttons. reloaded a few times. checked the console. i accidently managed to click on one of the timer items as I was fucking about clicking all over the place.
thought from the look of it i thought i was supposed to interact with cube to mess it up and let the computer solve in in some time. so i was ctrl/alt dragging around
gave it more time i'd do of any other site that isn't clear what to do.

np. all of us get into that "of course that's what its supposed to do" idea when its obvious to us. Glad you didn't take it as criticism - just feedback from a bod going "WTF is going on"

Agreed
It is quite clever though. It seems to be : "Set a time, press Go, and the cube will be solved in exactly that time".
So, you can set exactly how long you want to be mesmerised for, staring a self-solving cube. Very relaxing, IMO
Edit: Oh - and the page even calls itself a Stopwatch. I missed that.

is this AI? because at 2:37 something very strange happens when his hand goes in front of the other bloke's face.
Only other explination I can think of is interlaced footage, getting the field order wrong on import then a low bitrate encoding at some point.
But I can't see it anwyhere else
(lumpytesticle, Sun 8 Feb 2026, 19:19,

My money is on a straightforward encoding artefact
The face in the background is relatively low brightness, and I've seen many cases where low brightness areas show up encoding artefacts - having a large high brightness hand move across the low brightness face could be an example of this.

I've made a BlueSky account to post something from Oink! comic every day. Already finished with the preview issue as of this morning and issue 1 (including the flexi-disc with Marc Riley's songs) starts tomorrow. Clicking "I made this!" because I set up the feed, obviously I didn't make the comics.

They are already adding AI 'upscaling' without letting uploaders opt out.
The upscaling turns hair to plastic and makes everything look CG.
(brbMonkhouse Stampede, Fri 6 Feb 2026, 15:19,

That's already a thing - has been for a few years.
1080p videos have a Premium option if you check the video settings - the "free with ads" videos are all lower bitrate.
Then they added the "default on" AI upscaling, and they are just rolling out the "text prompt content creation" feature, to flood the platform with even more slop for even less effort.
Enjoy!

I think they have these wierd shitty vehicles because they're poor, rather specialised
they can't afford proper vehicles, so they weld together the minimim they need. I once spent a couple of days travelling through the mountains in Laos on what seemed to be a motor in a wheelbarrow at the front, with a big rubber drive belt pulling the passenger cart behind it connected by poles. I paid my money to get to the chinese border, and found we all (me and whatever villages and their chicken were in there on that stretch) had to get out and walk on the steeper bits of the dirt roads.

This was just the closest pic I could find.
The one I was on used the front engine to drive the back axle, via a giant rubber drive belt about a foot wide, rather than pulled from the front. Had several poles connecting the two. Had plenty of time to contemplate what an odd contraption it was

Mark Kermode reviews Melania
amazing. And Mayo doing his usual thing of looking like he'd rather be anywhere else than talking to Kermode.
mind you his best review was for Blackbird which was written, directed and starring micheal flately. (I used to know the guys who actually produced & directed it).

Though while it means you can vote for the party and policies you want, you can never hold that party to account when it gets into a governing coalition. Personally, I think this is better, but it does come with its own limitations and risks.

There was probably a period of a few years
in the early 00s when IMDb ratings approximately reflected a summary of actual people's opinions about a film. Then the internet became a pile-on, and here we are now. Maybe we should all just abandon it for AI to take over and go back to speaking to each other in real life.

I checked a couple of days ago and the recent film was waaaaay up the list with a heady 1.1 out of 10! It was striking how many Trump films there were at the bottom of the list - here are the ones that jumped out from the first couple of pages - all had a rating of 1.0. 1. Melania (2022) 11. Hearts Are Trump 13. Think Big and Kick Ass in Business and Life 21. Donald Trump: Made in the USA
