Dear everyone, I wrote a satirical biography of Colonel Gaddafi for a new news website, and they published it (yay!). So if you're a b3tan who likes the politilols then you may well appreciate this :)
Also I know there's a lot of writers on b3ta, but I don't know if any of you have heard of Viewshound. They're crowdsourcing the content and the best stuff can win cashprizemonies, so you might light to submit stuff too. I'm not affiliated with it in any way (other than having written for it), I just thought it was a good idea. Anyway, read my words pleasey crease!
Kissy kissy.

Don't watch much TV, but love this show and Curt Smith steals the show in this brief cameo. Starts about 1:10.
Here is one more, in which he makes fun of himself. Good sport.

But I also realise how much tourism is generated because of them. We should have the top few tiers of the royals and fuck off all the no-marks further down. They're the sponging bastards that we could lose.

fucker has been popping up near where I work recently, to berate passers-by and traffic through his sodding megaphone. He is a tedious one-note attention seeking hippy twat with literally nothing to say, but more than prepared to say it over and over and over again, at great volume, and I wish him nothing but the very best of throat cancer. (I should emphasise that I don't dislike him because of the basic thrust of what he seems to be saying, just that there are better ways of saying it than yelling it into strangers' faces through a megaphone.)
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 16:14, Reply)

I'm surprised he's using a megaphone created through the system. Surely he should be using a hollowed out tree trunk? Hypocritcal twat.

In America, when we have people come to protest things like funerals, weddings, etc., the bikers all come along with their loud bikes and drown out the noise of the loudmouths.
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 16:51, Reply)

Why would you protest a wedding? Its one short step from there to protesting funerals.
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 16:58, Reply)

The people you're protesting don't hear you at all. And the people who'd just like a nice day out with the kids want to move to Kukamunga.

If they really are such a threat and such a problem why do we (as a mass) only get upset about them periodically?
Maybe it's just a flavour of the day type of thing, and the rest of the time we don't give a shit.
I understand what the whole republican let's protest the wedding lot are getting at, I agree with a lot of what they say. But I

but there are plenty of countries that get along just fine without being the proverbial whipping boys.
It's a global society now and someone is going to always play the role of political stepfather. It's not always going to be the USA, either. Don't forget, there was a time when everyone had to kiss England's ass, too.
There is certainly some truth to a blind eye being turned to some of the worse behavior as long as fealty is claimed. A whole lot of crappiness to the whole situation, really.

When normal audio books are just too exciting, you can buy an MP3 of the whole thing in morse code. If that's still too exciting, you can also buy an MP3 of Pi to 700,000 digits... also in morse code.
Reminiscent of Monty Python's "Wuthering heights in semaphore"
(These are actually for learning morse code, so not totally daft)

in our heirarchic, stratified social order, the son of the woman at the top got married and invited all their highfallutin friends. and London was closed off, and the peasants held back by armed police. for fucks sake, all these people on here sayin "its ok for the police to arrest them" and even saying "you should arrest people if you think they might commit a crime", well, it fucking appals me.

it has gone well right-wing in a weird way. so for e.g. - student protests in London and poeple on here were against the students. Tesco protest in Bristol and people on here were pro-tesco ("its a good shop" etc) and pro-police. And the royal wedding, well fuck me the place has turned into the mail. All these so-called liberals are really middle-class liberals who have no idea about class struggle. And bizarrely, if you mention immigration (which has benefitted big-business most of all and affected the working-class poor the most) and say you have issues with it they will call you a mail reader and ask if you are in the BNP. for fucks sake, DONT PEOPLE READ CHOMSKY ANYMORE????
(and for those who were pleased at the wedding arrests/saying it was ok to arrest people before committing a crime - you can fuck off you fucking fascists)

is why anybody cares at all in the first place? People that describe themselves as 'pro' or 'anti' monarchy are just weird to me. I just view the Windsors and family as irrelevant figureheads, though Charles seems like a fairly decent chap, what with the charity and environmental work.
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 15:23, Reply)

It's just a tad degrading that we're still doing this in the 21st century. That's all.
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 15:33, Reply)

in the same way that any celebrity has any more worth than me, my family of friends. The fact the royal family exist has almost no bearing on my life.
The exception being public money being spent on stuff like this. And I think if you can't protest that, then there is an issue... But I really don't understand how you can feel degraded by a family existing. They are not even the wealthiest family out there. There are way richer and cuntier people kicking about out there.
Edit: I have written bunches of stuff today. I hope I am not coming across as a bit of a twat. I am pretty much pro-nothing.

which pisses me off. they get don't have to work (any work they do is fucking PR), and people see them as the highest in the land in social ordering. all the plebs who think they are wonderful make me laugh. (and im a pleb!)

Willbertson is a Sea King pilot and his job has the same demands as any other Search and rescue pilot. He even married a plebonian.
And yeah, it is pretty much just PR. But I am quite impressed one of them got let loose on a helicopter.
I am pretty sure if you were exposed to the spoilt-shit-scene it would make you vomit how little some people do and think. It really isn't just the royal family. They are just sufficiently old-money that they get their faces on our coins.
I think they have been pretty much a waste of space since 1066 or some time before. At least these days they are not entirely publicly funded.

There's been a law on the books as long as I can remember called "Conduct Liable To Cause A Breach Of The Peace"
So, if you go up to a bunch of racist, scumbag, skinheads and call them a bunch of racist scumbag skinheads, then you're committing an offence as they're likely to try and beat the living shit out of you.
Same thing here. You don't go up to tens of thousands of happy people celebrating a marriage and try to fuck up their day. What's likely to happen is for some of them to try and beat the living shit out of you.
And, for the record, I can't stand the Royals and all they stand for.
Cheers
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 15:50, Reply)

Didn't word it right, really.
But it was never the intention to fuck up anyone's day. Fair enough, some people get offended easily. The main issue was to have a gathering, in order to hijack the media coverage more than anything (in the end there was more media than protesters and it never got reported anyway (they were hoping for a riot. peaceful demonstrations don't make the news)), to show that not everyone in the UK wants to bow down to the royals. It was well away from the centre of the event, and everyone there wished Kate and William well in their marriage. It was the spectacle of the occasion that most people were against.
( , Mon 2 May 2011, 16:48, Reply)

"you should arrest people if you think they might commit a crime" and more "the law states that you can arrest people if you think they might commit a crime - use all means political to change that law". Which is not what some people want to hear. Some people would prefer to fuck up the place, and see if change will happen. The problem is, because nothing is being done which the mass populous can back. Most people can't abide loudspeakers, and their city being fucked up during protests. (I am sure the policing of these events is partly to blame)
A party needs to come out and say they will reform the laws. Of course these laws are extreme and pretty disgusting, but we are in a situation right now where as a society we are at risk (or certainly feels that is at risk - it may not be real) from bigger threats than Thinghy McBob and Doo Lallins and their Dixons window panning, but people that would quite like to have disrupted events with nail bombs and the like. Thats the excuse for these laws. However they abuse these laws, and shit like this happens.

This video is a more refined version of my last video depicting some user testing with my robot DON-8r (http://www.b3ta.com/links/614349) - which got into the newsletter, and has since knocked up a shed load of unexpected views (woohoo!)
All the interaction here is unprompted and natural - I love the contrast between the three playful kids and the three businessmen!
I have produced this video in order to respond to the comments and questions people have been raising about the way DON-8r works - so I hope it clarifies!
My final hand-in / presentation for Uni is tomorrow and this video is one of the deliverables so hoping it goes down well! And for that reason I'll be as active as I can with any comments here but I have a presentation to practice...

Bit of backstory needed here:
Neil Gaiman, Amanda Palmer, Ben Folds and Damian Kulash of OK Go formed a band called 8-in-8 and released a bunch of tracks for charity.
They are running a sort-of-competition to make fan-made videos this weekend so my buddy Mikael got me and his mate Magnus to dress up like idiots and march round Clissold Park on Friday and put this together as a result.
EDIT: Oh, and @neilhimself tweeted that it was the funniest entry he'd seen, which was cool.
