You're better off getting a small cheap rice cooker and a little slow cooker from Argos.
I've used the thing shown here. It's a bit of a jack-of-all-trades. Not great.
Rice cookers are fucking amazing though. Well worth it. Chuck in rice and water, plug it in, and it's perfect. Saves a hell of a lot of hassle.

This is a normal post Wrong
Depends on the rice.

1 cup basmati, 1 & 3/4 cups water. Also rinsing is necessary.

A good rice cooker is fantasic and every house has one here (China). Many reasons:

Everyone easts a fuckton of rice
No kitchen has more than 2 rings to cook on, so frees one up.
The slow cooking of the rice is better for short grain. (48 mins vs the 12 mins in the pan). There is a fast mode no one uses.
No rinsing
Doesn't need watching
Never burns
Keeps cooked rice warm at a safe temperature

Also they can steam, boil, casserole, congee, reheat and keep rice warm safely for 12 hours, and I've even managed sous vide in one.

Just because you have an opinion, it doesn't make it right.

This is a normal post 1 cup rice 1.25 cups water
put in pan with lid on high heat

set timer for 6 minutes, when timer goes off, turn off the heat

set a timer for another 14 minutes then fluff rice with a fork

perfect rice. Now you know.

If anyone needs to buy a device to make that process easier they should just buy take away food and be done with it.

Even with the 'labour saving' device, you have to measure the rice, measure the water, put it in the pot, turn on the cooker, and then press go.

Literally, the only step it saves you is to turn off the heat after 6 minutes.

This is a link post Which shed is the best shed out of all the sheds?
We have been running #shedoftheyear now since 2007 and you b3tans have supported us even when we went corporate a few years back and got a TV show, now that phase of shedism is over Don't worry we are still celebrating sheds as much as we did.

So here is a Vote to decide the best shed out of all the winners we have had the last 12 odd years- Will it be the Roman Temple, the shed with a boat on its roof (yay), the pirate shed or the one that looks like a mad mushroom.

Anyway take a look and vote..as it's just a bit of shed fun until shed of the year 2020 gets going

If you have a great shed that you are hiding in then why not add it to this years competition as well.

The ultimate Shed of the year vote - Which is the best?

Now we have been running Shed of the year since 2007 - we would like to know which shed is the shed of sheds.

Comedian and actor Tim Brooke-Taylor dies after contracting coronavirus

British comedian and actor Tim Brooke-Taylor has died aged 79 after contracting coronavirus. The news was confirmed by his agent. He was best known as a member of comedy group The Goodies alongside Graeme Garden and Bill Oddie. The trio performed sketches in their very own TV show that ran from 1970 to 1982. Brooke-Taylor aso appeared on BBC radio show Sorry, I’ll Read That

(, Sun 12 Apr 2020, 16:27, Reply)
This is a normal post I have lots of thoughts about 5G
One is that because of the problem with occlusion it's unlikely to become ubiquitous in my opinion, rather they'll be a mix of high frequency and lower frequency connection in the next 10 years or so, with the older 4G protocols still being in use because of lack of connectivity. Another thought is that if there is an inherent danger with microwave data transfer, as suggested in a recent rat study in which they were unusually inclined to develop cancer in the heart, then the danger might actually be less with 5G because of course the wavelength is so small that it can't actually penetrate human skin. What are your thoughts on 5G?

This is a normal post I was just going to get the beers and watch Superstat - it's an Easter tradition!
Now, Minchin was all right - but there wasn't nearly enough acting in this cast for me. I still prefer the movie version, with most of the original cast memebers.

EDIT: Shit. Fucking still can't edit titles. Now I have to find something called "Superstat" to watch.

Minchin is surprisingly good in it.
Agreed, the acting is a bit weak, but fuck it and enjoy the ride. I did.
BTW, I will append some background info about this in a bit, as a reply.

Webber posted a short video on Twitter, when in isolation. Played "All I Ask Of You" (from Phantom) on piano, and asked others to make video responses – joining in.

A bunch of musicians from the London Orchestra responded, and it was pretty amazing;

This is a normal post I didn’t want to say anything, since other people obviously do enjoy it
But I was thinking “Dear god, is isolation really making b3tans watch Andrew Lloyd-Webber musicals?”

And to give an alternative. Here is the proper stage version of Into The Woods by Sondheim. (No James Cordon, correct Narrator character, etc)

This is a normal post If you start from the point of view of being a prog rock fan
- and listen to the album verson released before it ever made it to stage, the one with Deep Purple's Ian Gillain as Jesus - then it's less "ALW musical" and more "prog-tastic extravaganza", more "KIng Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table on Ice" - i.e. it's an overambitious 70s concept album.

Another reason for prefering the old version of it is that as time has gone on, the lyrics have been sanitised to appease the Christian backlash.

one of the good ones, surprised by Sporty Spice, the guy who plays Simon is good as well. Have seen the other one with Alice Cooper as Herod. Glad they stick with the original music, and don't disco it up. Like this...youtu.be/h71j9ZEgLyw?t=1215

This is a normal post Around in our part of the earth's surface we have a saying...
...that goes something like this:
A GOOD GUEST IS A DEAD GUEST.
i.e. we'd rather see you gone than come.

In the words of Donald Jay T.:
Now you know solitary confinement and you got nothing to lose anyhow:
How about going out on a real crime spree?!
Can't get worse than this, can it?
And I got you the guns to do the RIGHT thing.
