Tell the class about an example of jaw-dropping ignorance and stupidity you have recently encountered.

Saturday was quiet, yesterday we went for a meal (which was crap), I then was dragged to do some painting thing with the baby and then I went to see the Levellers last night. They were excellent. The support was shit.

Friday - Work do, fantastic food, I had to leave early due to sickness, got back to hotel, chucked up, passed out. Still not happy about that.
Saturday - Hotel alarm went off at 7am, got back home early, fixed internet connection there, cancelled my other appointment for the day as I still felt like shit. Saw a couple of friends, one of whom brought several games round for me to borrow, after they left I spent the next few hours on 'Just Cause 2', which is the most fun game I've played in quite a while. Went out Saturday night, remembered quite how much I hate everyone as I was one of the oldest in the pub. We then went to one of the local night spots, where out night ended prematurely after one of my friends stood on a broken wine glass stem that had been left lying in the middle of the floor. The bouncers were ever so helpful, giving his foot a quick bandage, telling him not to be such a crybaby, before dumping him on the kerb outside, after he nearly passed out inside. Never fucking going back in there. Didn't get back from the hospital til 5am.
Sunday - Woke up after about 4 hours sleep, played on 'Just Cause 2' again, watched the football, attempted an early night, but was interrupted by a friend, ended up staying up til 2am.
I'm a little tired today.

Must admit I haven't paid any attention whatsoever to anything eminating from the Winehouse family since finding out that she was a very disappointing live act, despite the best efforts of her excellent band, at Glastonbury in 2007. Yes, I'm judging a Croydon man's worth on his dead daughter's ability to engage a festival crowd. What of it?
This weekend I played and won a game of poker, then promptly talked myself out of half my winnings by suggesting we split the stake and play a second game, which never got finished on account of rum.

Friday I took my smashed tele back to Richer Sounds and they replaced it no questions asked, didn't even take it out the box the idiots. Saturday travelled back home, went straight to Fulham for the annual post match Christmas piss up. Went back to the girl I've fancied forever's house Saturday night and we lied in bed all day yesterday whilst watching The Thick Of It. She's ace, she makes me laugh and she got the reference when I said "I love you, in a way" as I was leaving. Dream woman.

Personally I don't much care for her music but I'm not going to describe someone as 'fucking shit' and 'a waste of oxygen' because of that.
From the little I know about her life, she came from a normal family and achieved success in an area that she loved despite not being very pretty, which I think is quite an achievement for a female solo artist in this country.
I understand that she drank a lot and took a lot of drugs. So what. She was a fucking rock star, its what they do. I'll wager you've posted some vapid shit on these messageboards about how wasted you got this one time on drugs.

So why _not_ celebrate his life? He was alright mostly.

It's pretty much a coincedence that the Vatican is in Italy. Next most important places to the catholics are in France and Spain as it happens.

(, Mon 19 Dec 2011, 9:44, Reply)
isn't really much to do with the Italians, though. In the whole christianity/catholic split, for long periods Spain, France and even England were more "important" to the Catholic church. I thought it was the Vatican by default since England and France effectively overthrew Catholic rulers?
(, Mon 19 Dec 2011, 9:47, Reply)
Gonz is being facetious though, as am I.
The papal states pimped themselves out to anyone who would defend them, as the defenders of the faith. Hence why the Spanish and French are important Cathiolic countries.
The Vatican is in Rome because the Roman Empire became catholic. That be a FACT.
(, Mon 19 Dec 2011, 9:52, Reply)
Yeah, I fucked up with the holy roman empire, I didn't realise that when they tried to resurrect the whole shebang through the catholic church they called it "empire" again.
The Romans would have killed any Italian catholics on sight, though, which does kind of put a flaw in Gonz'z idea.
(, Mon 19 Dec 2011, 9:55, Reply)
The Catholic church split from the Orthodox church way after that.
So the Romans be burning and killing normal Christians and to be honest that was somewhat overstated. Romans were quite into religious tolerance.

Most easy one I made was equal parts double cream to chocolate.
Heat the cream in a pan until little bubbles start to form.
Add a bit of butter, melt it.
Pour this over FINELY CHOPPED chocolate, whisking furiously, and adding your flavouring/booze splashes.
Put in fridge or freeezer til firm.
Use melon baller (and latex gloves) to scoop and shape.
Then roll them in something like crushed nuts or cocoa OR dip em in melted chocolate and get em in the fridge/freezer to set.
Messy but well impressive. I made a batch flavoured with Chambord on Saturday.
