Assuming that's a link to the song
Why would I watch it when I've stated how overrated I think they are?
But very kind of you to try to enlighten me nonetheless.

so, you've listened to them before anyway?
to get this opinion of overrateded? or is it just a generalisation? just curious to your opinion is all.

I refer the honourable gentleman to the answer below
(although it's be pretty impossible to have reached my advanced age without having heard the Beatles!)

hahahahahahahaha
whatever. I shall educate - Picture yourself in a boat on a river, with tangerine trees and marmalade skies. It's from their Sgt Pepper Album, which as far as I know has been available to buy since 1967 and has, to date, sold more than 30 million copies world wide...

Yeah, I've got the album
but I don't listen to it because it's shite.
I may be rather overplaying my hostility to the Beatles for shits and giggles, but you know, as Mr Pip said "Just a band"

That's certainly a stance -
guaranteed to anger, 'the beatles were rubbish' I love 'em, so to find someone who doesn't intrigues me. I'm, as yet, been unable to find someone who can give me a reason to not love 'em. I'm not saying we should all like the same music, that would be boring. In a way it'd be awesome if someone gave me a reason that made me think 'shit, yeah, they were well rubbish now you put it like that'. but until then I'm stuck liking what I like... it's a tough world eh?

I honed my stance
arguing with a close friend who loves them and couldn't understand my indifference (which is all it really is) so to wind him up I got increasingly militant about my position until we genuinely fell out (for half an hour)

ha! ace.
there a lot of 'successful' artists out there that I'm not overly bothered about but accept that they must be good to be selling so well, so yeah that falls into indifference I guess. But some folk do love to wind up t'others. I think the beatles good/bad thing is what they're fighting about over in the desert somewhere.

nitty gritty
is a term that was used during the slave trade. when a slave owner got 'bored and frisky' and wanted some back door action, he would use the term 'to go and get down to the nitty gritty', then proceed to go and have his way with whatever he fancied.
having said that, nice picture.

I don't think nitty-gritty has anything to do with slavery.
Of course, I'm happy to be corrected if you have a source.
after trying to source it, it would appear to have 2 trains of thought
neither of which are 100% conclusive, more suggestive, but in the interests of it being friday and almost the weekend, I will bow to your suggestion of non bumming meaning.

I beg to differ.
if you watch the video, that bloke singer asks with some shock 'you're WHAT?!' as clearly this pregnancy is a surprise. Now, the only sticking point is if the term came from said shed for writing and means only that, or if it became a slang term after the song... alas, we may never know. (unless there is a concise device for checking such things, something anybody could, for arguments sake, 'log on' to and discover, but the very thought sounds quite absurd, quite absurd indeed.)
