This is a link post Head of UK Air Traffic Control Richard Deakin
Head of UK Air Traffic Control Richard Deakin is responsible for making sure over 6,000 flights move safely through the airspace every day.

During an interview with the Today programme's Simon Jack, he was pressed about whether his staff encounter unidentified flying objects.

before any one starts abuseing us tinfoilers, just remember that not every ufo is a space ship or inter galactic planet destroying cruiser
some are in fact marsh gas or fog banks and some believe it or not have even been known to be reflections of venus defracted through the upper atmosphere.also some have been found to weather ballons that have blown of course whilst carrying top secret gadgets made from metal

This is a link post Comics library/images....mostly British stuff I made this!
I helped fund this in the old days ('98)and spent many hours scanning in images and writing comic bollocks. It was going to also be a site where we sold stuff but ended up as a trading house for people to trade with eachother ( it's subsidised by what we do now which is rather boring coding stuff that I don't understand) Labour of love and all that but somewhat gone to seed and little used these days. No money to be made but thought it might be useful for them doing the image challenge, or just fancying a trip down memory lane. Library here : www.26pigs.com/comics.html and image bank here: www.26pigs.com/26pigs_imagebank.php

(by the way, I found a site once where you could design your own superhero costume and then they would make it and send it to you... grateful for any leads as I'm off with Barmy Army for the first time next month and I want to look a twat so that I can fit in)..

I'll shut up now.

tl/dr? It's a comics site

btw - Can anyone help me track down a comic book character?

I remember reading some foreign comic books in the early 90's and there was a massively muscled dark haired dude who wore a 'navy' type striped t-shirt, glacier shades and was pretty kinky & violent (lots of big guns), but also pretty funny.

Not sure if it was French or Belgian, but if you think of early Jean Paul Gaultier on steroids you'd be close!

Been trying to remember, but the old grey cells ain't what they were...

Can't really formulate any conclusions without knowing the evidence, some of the london rioters got stiffer sentences than that. If they were just innocently protesting then yeah thats a bit fucking harsh. I really don't know alot about the situation, I don't even know if the police aggravated it in the first place before they started shooting. I wasn't really paying attention.

Edit: oh I see, the police shot a couple of G's and then everyone kicked off, just like london then.

This is a normal post Oooh, sounds like a nightmare.
I much prefer loud noise, drugs and hippies.

Bangface you get a bit of a mix...hippies, chavs, and lots and lots of mad Dutch.

Vibert confused them a little last year. The mad dutch had been enjoying a lot of trance...seemed to be quite trancy last year...then Vibert came out and did a blinding 2 hour hardcore set billed as a history of the Amen break. Savage. Took them a while to realise you can't pogo to hardcore...but by the end they fucking loved it.

This is a normal post I heard about that set from someone, maybe it was Count vanderhoff, might have been Dave!
I too prefer the hippie vibe, RTTS is a bit diferent musically too, there is alot of d+b and jungle thrown in with hard house, trance and hardcore, and in the other little arena last time I went there was a silent disco. It's pretty diverse, the site is an absolute shithole though.

This is a normal post That set made (/saved?) my weekend :-)
Vibert is a legend.

Yeah, I might give RTTS a miss if it's all the same to you ;-)

Miserable looking chavs, hoods up, dancing to DnB isn't the best vibe, I've found lol

This is a link post The Grambler I made this!
I done gone made a thing for charity...

Wasn't too sure about putting this here as football related stuff never seems to go down too well around these parts, but seeing as the fantasy football thingy got FP'd t'other day, I thought 'fuck it.'

I have realised that my football betting record is atrocious. Always has been, always will be. But this season is going to be different... I am going to entrust all of my accumulators to a spreadsheet with random number generators. It is certain to make me sticking rich! And there's more... It's all for charity! All funds raised will go to The Bobby Moore Fund for Bowel Cancer Research, a charity very close to my heart (and bowels). So join me for a most excellent adventure throughout the footballering season. The first bet will be placed this afternoon.

It's on that there Blogger, Facebook, Twitter and all the other nonsense that the kids are talking about these days. So spread the word and help make this a success, it's for a good cause after all!

This is a normal post Why not just give the money to the charity?

(, Fri 17 Aug 2012, 13:53, Reply)
This is a normal post If you read the thing
you'd see that I am going to do that anyway at the end of the season.

It's not just about the money, it's about raising awareness of a charity that does not have a huge profile as it's under the umbrella of the better known Cancer Research

This is a normal post I did read the thing.
And having read it, I wondered why you don't just give the money to charity. That way the charity will (most probably) get more money.

There are plenty of other ways of raising awareness for the charity that don't involve spunking money on bets when it could be put to better use.

This is a normal post It's a pound a week.
That equates to, at most £30 a season. By doing this I have already encouraged at least 5 mates (and hopefully more through the season) who had never heard of the fund to stick a tenner in to the charity.

Here's a simple bit of maths for you: I could have donated £30. My mates have donated £50 already. I will donate more at the end of the season.

Well it seems to me like we're in a positive balance here! And the 'raising awareness' thing appears to have worked quite well as the people who are joining in now know about the charity and will hopefully donate more in future.

Sorry for not running a marathon or adhering to whatever your standards of fundraising are but, you know, the 3 rounds of major surgery along with chemotherapy and radiotherapy are stopping me from doing that. This is something I can actually do!

I am currently at risk of flouncing so I will finish with this thought: For fuck sake, it's for charity! I'll just post a picture of Mo Farah running away from a cat next time..

This is a normal post Oh and I forgot to mention...
I have personally contacted the charity in question to outline my project and they think that it is a great idea and offered to support me and help to publicise it a bit more.

So nyah!
