My trichotillomania has kicked in today and I've spent all morning pulling the hair from the back of my neck.
What annoying habits or compulsions do you suffer with?

I bid good evening to you one and all
pray tell what dreams and hopes does your evening hold?

I thought I'd share this with you all
wow.joystiq.com/2011/10/25/faces-of-blizzcon-guildmates-tighten-bonds-at-blizzcon-meetups/

It's about Blizzcon a convention run by Blizzard who make world of warcraft among other games.

I thought you might be interested in the pictures of online "guilds" meeting for the first time IRL (that means in real life n00bz)

Reminds me of a bash a bit, except for wearing the same shirts. I also appreciate the "put the girls in the front" policy.

i read somewhere recently
that people over the age of 30 should not wear slogans on their clothes. what would your slogan be?

also, i nearly lost my lunch (falafel wrap and lentil salad, since you ask) when the couple in front of me in the queue to pay insisted on eating theirs off one another's tonsils. are public displays like that ever acceptable? or should it all take place in the dark behind closed, locked doors??
(, Wed 26 Oct 2011, 13:56, 218 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
What a load of old shit this is.
I saw an advertisement for 'Children In Need' last night. I fucking hate it. It's an excuse for office tossers and general wankers to show off and act like an even more irritating cunt than usual, in your face, and all with the tenuous justification that it's for charity. Here's another idea - how about simply, quietly and privately donating to charity and stop being a waki fucking flid? No?

I prefer 'Comic Relief' - at least you get some hilarious footage of fly-blown Africans to cheer you up after the harrowing scenes of Lenny Henry....

EDIT: my question is: do you agree that public displays of charitable behaviour are likely to be ultimately narcissistic and borne of self-interest, and those proudly showing off their 'look at me I'm dressed like a cunt FOR CHARITY BECAUSE I'M RAISING MONEY FOR CHARITY BECAUSE THAT'S THE KIND OF PERSON I AM: CHARITABLE, YEAH?' should be smashed over and over again in the fucking face with a claw hammer until they stop?

Fuck me, I'm bored.
Stuck in an auction in an aeroplane hangar in the middle of nowhere with only mr b3th for company. And it's cold and boring. And b3ta is being shit too.

Let's wake this place up. Best, funnest thing in the world you'd rather be doing. Has to be something within your means, and physically possible.

Here we go then
Your thread - free of teenage angst, as requested.

But maybe not, because I still have my Adrian Mole books - how accurate were those?

New thread time methinks.
Sampling in music.
Theft or tribute?
IMO, it is unoriginal. Get yer own riff.
EDIT- It is decent if subtle, but OTT it becomes daft.
I don't like the implication that if a classic part of a song is put into a new song, it is an automatic improvement.

Slipping standards
I am concerned about the level of education of some of the teachers at my son's school. Some examples:
- Pronouncing the letter "H" as Haitch
- Pronouncing the word "New" as Noo (in the context of learning about the "ew" sound!)
- Using the incorrect spelling of "practice"
- Incorrect apostrophe use for posessive noun: it's'

Why are infant school teachers so thick? You may widen this to include your other Mail-reader views on precisely why this country is going to the dogs.

5. Nice

Something that came up in the last thread that I thought was worth a looking at in more detail.
There was a comment about being forced into criminality by stupid laws. While I agree the law in question is stupid, can one mortally justify choosing to break certain laws while defending the overall framework of law?

Actually it seems that we all do this to a greater or lesser extent, but all also believe that the rule of law is a good thing to a greater or lesser extent, but my question is how can this be justified?

Is it just that we don't follow laws because they are laws, but because they are laws but merely because they coincide with what we'd choose to do anyway?

Do we only break the ones we think we can get away with but fear of punishment keeps us mostly honest? If this is true can we claim any moral high ground at all?

I'm asking about You BTW, not what you think other people do, or why because you're probably wrong.

What do you think about the police?
In the last month or so I have had three separate reasons to speak to the police:

They refused to come out when a mentally ill neighbour (who has subsequently been sectioned for 3 months) was wandering naked in the street.

They sent 8 officers and a van out on a Saturday night for someone getting bitten by a dog.

Had a knock on the door from a policeman last night. A flat 4 doors down had been burgled. Had we heard anything? We live in London where the noise of alarms is pretty constant FFS.

Anyone making crap jokes about the 80's band named The Police will be punched in the face.

Alt: How would you like your remains to be dealt with when you die?

AN APOLOGY.
As some of you may have noticed, over the years I have been rather harsh in my judgement of 'gamers'. I've said some cruel things about how playing computer games is acceptable as a child but, if you are still playing them into adulthood, you're socially deficient in some way etc. I may have suggested upon occasion that such people were weird, sweaty, creepy losers - quite without any supporting evidence.

I realise now that I have been unjustifiably harsh in my judgement of 'gamers' and I apologise.

Oh, hang on a minute...

oh it's quite sad to be here while you all are asleep
I've just been doing research on where to park in Manhatten. It's a bit hard for my simple brain.

But yay for day trips! I expect I'll end up with Al's wife and he'll be elsewhere all alone while we gossip about shoes and other girly things.

That is all for now. Miss you all. You too Bobby. xXx

I think I'm coming down with influenza.
I got a cracking headache and feel all stuffy and like my teeth are holo.

Oh woe is me, but I've got my night nurse and my twinnings, and like the girl in the storm on the advert, I'll get pass this and move onto the calm waters of tranquility.

I got some chinese for dinner, crispy shredded beef and singapour noodles in half-box meal deal thing.

Ohhh OhTee, Give me some TeeEllCee.
