Yeah, one of my points of reference was King Gizzard's video for Infest the Rat's Nest; I thought a lot about how you balance a "game" with a music video. Didn't like how with that one you had to survive long enough to hear the entire song - from the beginning I wanted mine to be a full experience no matter how badly you play.
...also the game is designed to be impossible to 'win' so it had to be enjoyable regardless!

Yeah, I lost my voice mid pandemic (not due to covid). This game is basically how I dealt with the stifling creative lockdown I went through as a result.
You definitely made more of a 'game' though - much stickier in that regard.
And yeah, I spent a long time thinking about visuals/execution. Probably too long, but I didn't have a whole lot else to distract me! Now it's out it feels like a big weight has been lifted from me

Centuries of Sound - 1948 Part One
I made this!
Back with a new one, this is a bit different.
For 1948 instead of splitting things chronologically I've made two very different styles of mix. This first one is about tape recording and television, it has a jerky, cut-up edit style and includes more of the experimental and novelty music, as well as the year's news clips and juxtaposed samples from TV commercials, etc.
As always, free to stream via the Mixcloud player/link, the podcast version is cut down to one hour, transitioning to not having a podcast version at all as we get to the 50s for obvious reasons.
