Evening Thread
The fireworks are lighting up the sky, the heating is on and I'm thinking about dinner.

What are you doing this evening?

Alt Q: Why are you a bit down at the moment, and can OT pick you up a bit?

For a few years the BFF and I have gotten together to watch Love Actually and drink copious amounts of champagne.
Up until last year when her horror ex moved in with her, that is.
Anyway, so she wants to continue the tradition, he's still living there, all though he isn't such a horror now.
I just don't want to. It involves crashing on their couch, while he and his daughter are there, and I just don't feel comfortable, but I feel obligated.

What have you felt obligated to do but just don't want to?
Alt q: I fucking hate/love Christmas.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Our dear pal Battered has committed B3ta hara-kiri and is effectively no longer of this parish.

He has his reasons, not least that he was wasting way too much time on here, something I fully understand.

Those of us who were going to his house for lunch this Sunday...errr....aren't.

MESSAGE ENDS

$fortune -oa
I'm at work but as it's early I've logged into a unix machine I've got at home to do a few bits and pieces. As I'm bored I decided to get a fortune.

"College is like a woman -- you work so hard to get in, and nine months later you wish you'd never come."

I've just had a baby.
I've applied to go to University next year.

Hmmm...

:edit: By jove it's my b3taday!

Morning Otters
I've recently been introduced to the delights of US comedy/spy drama Chuck and have generally been thoroughly enjoying it, but this morning I noticed on the menu that there's an episode called Chuck Versus The Wookie. THEY SPELT WOOKIEE WRONG

What ridiculously petty things have disappointed you lately and reminded you that lack of sleep, whilst leading to sloppy errors in most fields of everyday life, only serves to fuel pedantry?

Alt Q - any of you guys know how to DJ? It's Rawkus tomorrow night and the mate who's been bugging me for years to let him have a slot totally forgot he was supposed to be filling in so I'm looking at doing 10pm - 3am on my own

For those not interested in the self-help love-in
What would your ideal job be? I keep thinking I would have preferred to train as a doctor rather than an engineer.

Alt: What did you get in trouble for at school?

All a bit straggly down there
So here's one.

Just be you. Not the persona you adopt to post on b3ta. Bare your soul.

Unlike Chompy, I do actually have a question, hence threadstomping him
I'm writing an article, and need people's opinions, and getting them from you lot save me going outside. So, my question is, what would you say if asked what 'design' is? Please gaz me answers.

To make it a more interesting thread: Why is/isn't Angry Birds a good game?

Alt Q: If it's rubbish, why do I keep losing so much time to it?
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 18:33, 109 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
One more thread to get rid of the squid porn.
I don't actually have anything to say though.

Look at meeeeeee! Look at meeeeeeeeeeee!
I'm signing the lease on a new flat tomorrow. I'm fucking terrified because I don't own any furniture and it's utterly empty, no carpets, cooker, fridge, washing machine - nothing. I'm having to borrow some money for the first time in ages to get it all together and in the meantime I'm paying rent on both properties - housing trust rules mean we have to start paying straight away else we lose the option. Thank fuck I'm not tied-in to two month's notice in our current place.

Anyway, this is just blatant beakering, but anything to push that cunting squid-sex picture down the page.

That is too long to follow
While I was thinking of a question to ask, I received this from our H&S manager: www.snopes.com/crime/gangs/carseat.asp

I think that's from the USA, but there have been people reporting the same thing here. I thought I should share with you.

Any good advice received lately?
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 16:26, 6 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
It's been a long day
and it's not even close to over yet.

Things are going ok though, you will be pleased to hear.

How are you? Up to anything good tonight?

What a lovely story.

He'll be able to spend his free time doing massive drugs and being miserable.

Q: Have you seen any news stories recently that make you think of a OT'er?
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 13:58, 146 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Double cheese and onion
Thanks for asking.

What is it you'd like to say to somebody, but refrain because you would look petty?

Films!
Over the last few days, a few of us in our office have been talking about our favourite things in films, be it the "Does he look like a bitch?" speech from Pulp Fiction, or the bit at the end of Sixth Sense (she doesn't get out much).

I couldn't reduce them down to just one though, as I've got so many. So then, what are your favourite scenes/quotes/narratives/etc from films, as many as you like?

One of mine is the bit at the end of The Green Mile, when Michael Clarke Duncan stops Tom Hanks from putting the hood over, saying "I's afraid of the dark". Fucking gutting.

Alt Q: What is your opinion on Watership Down?

That's got one of my favourite bits too "All the world will be your enemy, Prince of a Thousand enemies. And when they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you; digger, listener, runner, Prince with the swift warning. Be cunning, and full of tricks, and your people will never be destroyed." - That with the theme tune played over it, superb.
