Alt: where did summer go?

One of my bosses is a perv. I called him a perv. Not to his face, mind.
But he may have heard that I called him a perv because he decided to mention it to another worker here when I came out into the shop. He said he's been called worse by better people but refused to say who he heard it from. I completely ignored everything he said.

He's now acting funny around me.
Am I going to get fired?
What would the good folks of b3ta do?

alt: something about something

A bunch of my right on leftie friends are now boycotting the News of the World
For their phone hacking shenanigans.

What's your opinion on our print media? Are all the tabloids scum? Do they need stricter controls?

Alt guess how many lurkers there are reading this bollocks at the moment.

Back for one day only
Hello

How are you all? I have a day off so thought I would pop in (using an old account I found that I had).

So what have I missed?

Lots been going on with me - now married (no Cabouchon ring in the end BGB) and we have a baby due in 6 weeks.

Would rather not dwell on my flounce if you don't mind..

Cheery Morning Thread
I went to see Mark Stevenson talk about his book An Optimist's Tour of the Future ( anoptimiststourofthefuture.com/ )last night and it was really great to hear someone being positive about the way the human race is going and some of the things we can do with technology.

It's put me in a really good mood, what was the last thing that made you feel hopeful about humanity?

Alt: I think "Burnly" said in it's own native accent sounds really nice an comforting, like a warm cardigan, what do other place\accent combinations conjure up for you?
(, Tue 5 Jul 2011, 10:16, 27 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
good morning OT
On my way to work I see pretty much the same people every day. Thankfully we never speak to each other but we do get used to each others habits and quirks. One lady cannot stand still while waiting for the train and has to do brisk laps of the platform with a determined look on her face. Another guy will not take his eyes off his copy of the metro for anything, not ticket barriers or other passengers or even staircases.

what regular oddballs do you encounter on your day-to-day travels?

If you had a chance to make the perfect move to any other nation, which one would it be and why
Inspired by Independence day.

Quick question
Does anyone know of or use another site where you post stories and anecdotes rather like QOTW?

I'm not staging a mass exodus, just curious to find out if QOTW is unique.

BTW - Not Thread stomping either -

That's a nice story, guns eh? They're not all bad.

So tell me about akward conversations, I just asked someone at work if they enjoyed glastonbury and who they saw, how great it was etc, they got their stuff nicked and her friend got attacked so they left on Saturday.

Body Horror.
I usually tan quite well, however after 5 hours of suncream-less cycling ,i appear to have developed forearms with second degree burns.
Whats the worst thing to happen to your body, or that of someone else you know. Whats the worst illness, the most disgusting accident you've ever had? Nails through feet, eyeballs falling out, mild ebola, pregnancy, etc.

I have been racking my feeble Scottish brains
And now I know. The centerpiece of my DJ set for Montybash is going to be Blind, by Hercules & Love Affair. Something tells me Monty is going to love it. I expect a cupping at the very least.

New thread!
Shiny, shiny, pristine new thread. Try not to sully it with your filth.

Actual question, as ordered by Labs: Three of my relatives have birthdays next week. Why does everybody have to get presents all at the same time? Don't they know I'm skint? Does your family have the decency to spread their birthdays out appropriately?

Alt: Will Andy make it a good day to be British, or will he be Scottish again by bedtime?
