7am. I bet all your alarms are going off telling you you've got to get up and go to work
Mine isn't, cos I've got 2 days off now *feels smug*

And now for a question.
What's your ideal Christmas present? It has to be something realistic, so no Pagani Zonda's or gold plated kettle's.
I really want a panini maker at the moment.

Purple is the tastiest colour.
I reckon I could live on a diet of Ribena, Fruit Clubs and picked onion Monster Munch.

What do you think is the tastiest colour?

Would you?
Would you exchange a long life for an incredible talent?

I've always thought that I would happily have died at 27 to have had the talent of Jimi Hendrix. Now I'm a parent I am less sure about this.

Alt: whose/what talent was/is great enough for you to even consider such a deal?

PS sorry Stunned poster
PPS I'm not really sorry

If you could relocate to somewhere else in the UK where would it be?
Talking to my wife about maybe moving to Edinburgh (where she is from). Her parents are getting older and her mother is starting to have health problems, so would be better for my wife to be there.
It's a great city, could get a really nice family home there for the value of our flat in London.
So if I could find a decent job there could be good.

Where would you move to within the UK if you had the choice?

ALT: Where would you hate to live?

Best Finds
Once at the Leeds festival I found a full unopened bottle of Southern Comfort wedged into a hedge while I was taking a piss. I only assume the original owner needed somewhere to "park" it when he was pissing too and forgot all about it. Today I have opened my desk and half a Bourneville was there. My question to you, offtopic, is what is the best thing you have found.

(Jokes about Bono/still haven't found will be marked down)

Ok, so, this christmas, I get to do the starter, there are a couple of rules though.
1) It can't be anything messy on the day, not use up too many hobs or oven bits'n'bobs.

I'm thinking of doing scallops on a bed of some kind of puree, as that always goes down well when I cook it for people. I can do celeriac and bacon, pea and mint or butternut squash with honey/chili/cumin.

One thing that I'm thinking of making, the day before, would be to roast some butternut squash with a bit of honey, chili and cumin. Then making some pasta and stuffing it with the puree, so on the day I just have to boil it for 4-5 minutes. I'll have to make sure to use lots of selonima to stop it sticking. I was thinking of making 3 of these squares each, with a butterflied king scallop on top that has been dusted with a pinch of curry powder and griddle panned really hot and quick.... I think it'll be good enough in a show-off kind of way, and taste really nice, and it'll be really quick in terms of what I have to do on the day. It also won't be that expensive for me.

Or I might do a pea'n'mint puree in the shell, and do 3 scallops in the shell. That would be much much easier, and still really tasty. It's not really autermy/christmy though.

Do you have any ideas that I could do for the starter this christmas?

Usually don't work Monday, which is a delivery day, but looks like I've been lumped with actually having to do some work rather than my usual pottering about

B4SH?
In an IRL conversation with several OT window-lickers last night the subject of a pre-Christmas* gathering in London was raised.

Who’d be up for it? Possible dates are Friday 9th, Saturday 10th, Friday 16th or Saturday 17th.

Start in a pub (possibly Mabel’s Tavern as that has worked well in the past) and then maybe get some solids somewhere.

If we can get a date agreed I will put something on the calendar.

*Christmas is shit.

I've had my bike nicked
Edit: No I haven't. I have not yet decided whether or not to murder the person responsible for this particular out-of-hand joke.

Double edit: Thread recursing below was due to me trying to post from my phone (the one without the HSH pic) and it not taking until after I'd given up and just posted from my laptop.

If you were going to invent an ice cream flavour what ice cream flavour would you invent?
I probably wouldn't bother. I'd make some raspberry ripple instead.

Whelp! time to start a new thread
Imagine you've got a hot guy/girl round for tea.

1. A song that you should play
2. A song you should definitely have removed from 'shuffle' before they got there
3. The song you finally get some to

this could be a youtube disco, too, if you like.

What've you been listening to recently?
Any new albums/bands/artists caught your ear? Any old stuff come back to haunt you? I've been listening to The XX's eponymous album again, it's something I listened to a lot in Dec/Jan but kind of forgot about. I also got Dub Kewli, a dub remix of some of Talib Kweli's rapping, and some others from this Max Tannone guy, good stuff.
