This is a link post The history of pink ESD polyethelene
and the construction of the world's emptiest bag.

Has the wonderful quote "I smoke these because I don't want to die of nothing" and a good demonstration of the casual misogyny of the early '80s. Aside from that, an entertaining talk from a colourful character.

This is a normal post Sorry, missed this one last night, so late to the comments. Fuck off.
One point we may agree on: overpopulation is fucking up the planet so less kids would be a good thing.
One thing we may not agree on: it's not the kids' fault they were born.

Wealth distribution is highly unequal; saying the parents can feed their own kids is not helping anyone; not the parents, not the children, not the wider society.

Children need social structure, an education and access to decent food or we are just going to get a generation (or yet another generation?) of obese undereducated, bored, resentful assholes who will propagate the situation.

Of course, if you would rather sit in a gated community shouting 'let them eat cake' so you don't have to actually see poverty and the effect it has on those children, then that is your right, in the same way it is my right to ask you to go fuck yourself.

You wander 'round London and come across one and it's amusing, unexpected, you see it, chuckle to yourself and move on because it's a city and you only stumbled upon going from point A to point B. Having a canvas print of the little girl who's let go of the heart balloon on your wall is just utter kitsch and defeats the whole fucking point.

If I was wandering along the canal, went under a bridge and the wall on the opposite side was painted as a Monet BUT WITH TROLLEYS AND SHIT IN IT JUST LIKE THE CANAL WE'RE ON then that'd be cool. This will just be owned by someone mega-rich. Meh.

As soon as he got a team behind him and lawyers to protect his IP, it became very difficult to claim he was actually sneering at the rich rather than just selling something to them.

(, Fri 23 Oct 2020, 10:43, , Reply)
This is a normal post I dunno, I like a lot of his early London stuff
I stumbled on this one one my way to Notting Hill Carnival as a teen, really liked it, had no idea it was him until I saw it in a book later, but I think the key is that it works in context - his ones with rats messing with junction boxes, ones that take advantage of cracks in a wall, etc.

It's not London, it's the money in London that did it. And just stencilling everywhere without caring about context. Yeah, now he's basically a factory...

This is a normal post all art is subjective
it's a small irony that monet himself first attracted quite a bit of hostility from the public and critics of the "but zis iz not art!" kind, though banksy also provokes the "I could of done that, mate" small-minded provincialism that abstract artists received over a century ago. Yet such has been his cultural impact, I bet far more people could identify the artist of this work around the world than The Haywain or Laughing Cavalier. 7.5 million quid is a doddle

Better than oil stew. OIL STEW!

It is so popular with kids and women. Try it if you like.

Needs CC turned on

To be fair, the resulting food sounds quite nice.

This is a normal post I never did care for sweet and sour.
I'm interested in how she did the de-veining though, usually I see people cutting them lengthwise after peeling. I've never seen anyone pour the oil over the cooked prawns either; that might be worth a go.

I like prawns, but it's the prep that puts me off them. That and the fact that so many people leave the tails on
