I suspect that £30k to Huw Edwards isn't quite the same as £30k to us plebs.
His base salary was £480k last year and I don't suspect he was living from payslip to payslip. It would be the equivalent of somebody on an average income paying somebody about three to four grand.

Having now seen the CCTV footage from before this, I can say it was a deserved kicking.
The two thugs had already caused 2 prior incidents involving violence. This third time, the police approached and attempted to detain them. Guy in the cyan top then started throwing punches, and the one in the dark top joined in. Broke the nose of one of the female cops, and punch the other too.
Non-broken-nose cop then deploys their tazer on the cyan guy, who obv goes rigid. Male cop likely doesn't realise - as the cyan guy falls, his now rigid arm and hand catches on the male cop's sidearm. Hence, fully justified beating.

They were attempting to detain two violent suspects from two other incidents.
The first incident is a fight between passengers from Qatar Airways flight QR023, which arrived at 7.20pm. The fight may have taken place during the flight or afterwards in the T2 baggage hall - unclear atm.
The second incident is further violence involving members of the public in T2 Starbucks at approximately 8.22pm.
Police then locate the suspect and move to detain them. This is prefectly normal in an airport, they do not "ask nicely".
Thugs then kick off and attack all three officers with what can only be described as "feral rage".

Armed Police are trained to use their feet - they cannot risk losing their gun or tazer.
Not only did the guy's arm and hand land on the officer's side-arm, they then became obscured - others have suggsted a nearby dropped radio may have looked like a gun in the heat of the moment. Either way, it's entirely justified.

I suspect the poorly judged kick and stomp to the head would make any prosecution politically difficult, regardless of the cunt's race.
That being said, if his behaviour and attitude to police prior to this incident is anything to go by, it won't take long for the prick to end up getting put away for something. Him and his mates will be under intense scrutiny after this, I suspect.
I'm also a little concerned that a firearms officer has such poor control over his impulses, I'll be surprised if he's going to continue being a firearms officer after this. I think we’re right to expect better impulse control from the police, especially those few that we give guns to. Just imagine if instead of putting the boot in he pulled out a pistol when the red mist descended.
Meanwhile we have the likes of Lee Anderthal spouting off on the news calling the suspects “animals” instead of trying to calm the situation down as one might hope to expect from a politician. As we actually saw that local councillor doing during that business in Leeds.
Yes, the one on the floor and his mate will probably end up behind bars, if not for this then something else, but let’s not pretend that a police officer kicking someone in the head should ever be acceptable.

But if we're on the subject I spent three years at Hendon developing training for the police probationers. We taught them how to arrest, how to put on restraints, we even simulated violent mobs which were fun days. Not often you get to scream abuse in a cops face and push them around pretending to be a football hooligan, unless you are one I suppose. Can't recall where we taught them to stomp on prostrate civilians heads in retribution, perhaps I missed that lesson, but I remember quite clearly teaching them about their common law duty of care. There was even a quiz at the end I wrote myself.

The police should not use force/violence against someone after they have been subdued. During the process of subduing them, there is an arguable need to use as much force as is required.
The guy was obviously subdued, having been tazed to the point he turned into an ironing board, so any violence or force after that point is unjustified.

No the police shouldn't be kicking people in the head when they're down.
However they're not robots, he's been punched in the head a lot and is under enormous stress and his team has been injured. He's not a high level operator ninja, gone through massive selection and training to ensure he has the aptitude/talent which has then been nurtured to ensure he's ice cold enough to cease all force the second it's not needed, he's a policeman who wanted some excitement so signed up to have a weapon.
I've seen enough videos where you think someone has been tasered and is down then somehow gets back up and starts fighting again. The cop knows the situation is on a knife edge, he doesn't know what the spectators are about to do, it's uncertain how the rest of his team is, are they about to get taken by a mob? He probably does think I'll boot this POS one as I'm very angry and i need to make sure he stays down.
You can train people all you like but in the heat and stress of that you're going into lizard mode and if you only select people who stay absolutely calm 100% of the time you're only going to have about 12 police.
And TBH if you're not going to respect the police fuck you. That is an incredibly tough job.

There's no reasonable expectation for police officers to stay calm 100% of the time.
There is a reasonable expectation that police officers shall not attempt to murder people by kicking them repeatedly in the head while they're being electrocuted.
There is a reasonable expectation that police officers should be sufficiently vetted and trained to protect the public by de-escalating potentially violent situations rather than doing the exact opposite.
There is a reasonable expectation that police officers filmed in the act of attempted murder shall face trial and conviction for those crimes.
My respect for the police does not extend to supporting thuggish police brutality, those who think it should are, I think, dangerously stupid cunts.
