I made a version of Ninestein's game about a year ago...
...directly inspired by this documentary. I whored it on here then, but this seems like a good opportunity to do so again.
Here's the trailer for it, with game links in the description.

The 8-bit Home Computer game adaptation at the time
Was just a crude implementation of Ninestein's game; nothing to do with the actual action of the series.

I feel that because the game can be implemented like the, appropriately named, 'Tiger' handheld games of the time, there's little excuse for making an 8-bit version that's so horrible.
I guess showing off the fancy 3D wireframe graphics was more the point.

They're not even really 3D.
The angle of the view of the buildings is all the same and never changes. A bit silly even that they draw the vertical line at the back that should be hidden on the block object. They do scale up, but they're just flat 2D line patterns. Another game called 'Sky Ranger' managed to do city blocks in full go-anywhere 3D with everything properly clipped so you couldn't see through the buildings.

Just watched a bit of 'Sky Ranger' gameplay on the ZX Spectrum and that's some impressive 3D with a decent framerate for the system. Gameplay might have been a bit of an issue though.

Seemed fake until the end. Looks like any thrust is coming from the pressure from the gas can.
Nothing in that construction would survive longer than a minute of actual use. So much of that stuff is held in place with hot glue, which would all be liquid after about 20 seconds. The solder might last 45 seconds, maybe. The fan blades might hold their shape for a whole minute, maybe, but the can housing everything would be shredded. Best case scenario: it fails without any shrapnel and only burns part your house down.

Looked liked CA, not hot glue?
Despite all the impressive engineering, I also wondered if it was actually a functional jet engine at the end. In all the wide shots the starter motor is clearly being used, and at the end where the caption says "Self sustaining mode" the framing carefully hides the intake end of the can, so you can't see if it is actually running without the starter, or is just a motorised flamethrower.

Centuries of Sound - 1949 Part One - The 7" Mix
I made this!
Back with a new mix, it's been a while (feel like I always have to say that these days)

This is a HOT mix of three hours of music and other sounds from 1949, the year the 7" single was launched. As ever free to stream (the embedded Mixcloud player gives you the whole thing) and there's a shorter version on the podcast feed (though I think I'm going to drop this except as a placeholder as I reach 1950)
Listened in full for the first time yesterday and it's a fun listen, more so than usual.
