This is a link post The Riot of Spring
Nice animated score for a piece of complex music, so outlandish at the time, there was a near riot at the first performance - on this day in 1913.

Now it sounds rather like a film score.

This is a normal post From your comment
I actively didn't want to click on the link because 'ugh, another person arguing about female ghostbusters'. Then I read it anyway.

It's an article going into depth about why the editing of the UK version makes for a much funnier trailer than the US cut, because timing.

So, uh, why the weird non sequitur complaining about how any legitimate criticism of the film is batted away as institutionalised misogyny?
(, Sun 29 May 2016, 1:14, , Reply)
This is a normal post I don't understand your comment, and have no idea what cat boy was talking about.
However I learned today that one of the leads in the new one is the fat bird out of Bridesmaids. That wasn't a great comedy, I mean it wasn't anywhere near as funny as Some Like It Hot or Dr Strangelove, but by contemporary standards it wasn't bad at all (diarrhoea bit excluded), and she was far and away the funniest actor in it, so I might give it a whirl.

This is a normal post I agree - I think it looks like it'll be fun! Not a work of genius, but an enjoyable thing to watch with friends
and we don't know what it'll be like yet anyway - trailers can be misleading, after all.

My comment above was wondering why Jahled's saying "Ugh, it's all women so you can't tell it like it is and say it's shit - this is a female conspiracy!" when the actual link doesn't talk about that or anything like it. It made it seem like the link was a critique of the film, or of having the central characters be female, as opposed to simply being about different trailer cuts, and actively put me off clicking on it.

I mean, 'A good cloak girls'? Really?
(, Sun 29 May 2016, 4:14, , Reply)
This is a normal post I dont think jahled was commenting on the link
was commenting generally about the film, and that commentators that have said the film looks shit, have been classed as sexist and only hate it as its women in it.
I have seen trailers and it DOES look shit solely because I loved the originals and would probably find any remake shit as well.
The fact it is all women in it just preses my 'why change it for the sake of it' buttons so I would be automatically inclined to not like it, whoever was in it.
'Good cloak girls' I got the impression meant the cast, as their fall back on excuse for why/if the film was panned would be because it was all women in it.

This is a normal post This good investigative journalism is hugely undermined by its blatant political bias.
For some reason C4 is only going after Tories. Of course they should be done if they've done wrong. But why are they not reporting on the Labour, Lib Dem and SNP MPs who have been doing exactly the same thing? Why are they not reporting the fact that some Labour MPs and one Lib Dem MP are being investigated by the police for misdeclared election expenses? Why do you think no politician from any party is making much of a fuss about this? They are ALL at it. But C4 news' agenda means it's just the evil Tories.

It's probably a good way to try to avoid privatisation.

If enough Tories are found to have broken law, by-elections take place, the government falls and privatisation avoided. If the government remains, CH4 privatised, and you can kiss good-bye any kind of investigative journalism.
