Company I did my student work based learning for last year won an award at the Prima fashion thingy recently for "best small independent maternity retailer", mainly because of the setting up of all their social media stuff that I did amongst giving them a PR department and rehaul of their website. I am now smug about this, especially as I now get to write an article for the student newspaper about the award and how awesome I am.
*smugs more*
Edit: Forgot to ask, whats made you smug lately?

Following on from the furore about MPs expenses and second home status, I’ve been thinking (all on my own, dangerous state), when the 2012 Olympics are finished why not turn the village into MPs accommodation. Then they can have a constituency home and a pied a terre in London. Obviously the village will be all cabled up for cameras and have security measures which would help protect our brave MPs from marauding constituents and terrorists. This would cut expenses and stop the twats milking the system as it would be cheaper to provides the accommodation free.
Discuss.

Well what do you know, I can see a B3tan in the office opposite mine - I can see his screen and he is looking at the main page… small world.
Erm… a question… what is your favourite retro sweetie? I’m quite partial to astro belts.

after working out how to use B3tards properly. This was very exciting for me.
What simplistic thing that will make you look like an idiot in the eyes of your peers have you decided to ill-advisedly crow about in a public forum lately?

I've just cheered myself up by singing a song in my head. Didn't quite think about it until I listened to the words, and realised it's a song to make you realise your problems aren't really worth shit. Made me laugh nonetheless.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=buqtdpuZxvk - This is it, I'm certain that pretty much all of you will know it.
What songs can always cheers you up?

I've just been to war with the people who manage my lease. It was fun. Who have you been to battle with recently?

Well, this place is going to Hell in a handbasket (always wanted to say that).
Yesterday we had 7 people on shift, today we have 4. That's because 2 were sacked (and not out of the blue, it was after discussion), and the other was suspended, pending a disciplinary. Sadly, that's my housemate. If he loses his job, we lose the house. Great(!)
Of the 4 people we have on shift, only 1 has been here longer than 3 months. Everyone is getting sacked over the most ridiculous things, and no-one wants to replace them, as this place now has a reputation for being shit employers. I can't say anything to anyone, as my position in the company isn't strong, so I have to just keep my head down and work.
So come b3tans, tell me, what's really pissing you off at the moment?

My cat has this weird habit at night of carrying a (clean) ball of my husband's socks, or a favourite fluffy toy, in her mouth, walking the corridors and crying quite loud...such that the pathetic meowling even wake us. She's never vocal except for these nightly serenades... but it has such a pitiful quality to it.
Does anybody else's kitty do this? Or can you offer an explanation for this feline behaviour?
I sometimes thinks it's like she's carrying a dead kitten around and crying over it, but I guess that's really just anthropomorphising

All I did was play Jah Wobble/Bill Laswell: RadioAxiom A Dub Transmission a bit too loud.
Turns out I couldn't hear Pat banging on my front door.
Oops.
What have you achieved today?

I say I dug them, really I watched a nice bloke in a massive digger do it. But I got to stick my tape measure down them and waggle it around a bit.
What have you done today that reminded you of having sex with TGB?

At the moment I feel like I could conquer the world. Fuck knows why but I'm in a very good mood, (even though Jeff doesn't want me).
Give me three reasons why I should be feeling like this.

I have a really annoying customer who doesn't understand the fact they have a 5% increase on everything after 22nd March, thinks they can ignore all our minimum quantities and has spelling worse than Gonz on a jellypeno day. (love ya Gonz)
To cheer myself up should I have a Boost, Yorkie or twix?

Sorry, but it's been bugging me this morning....

When my cat scratches my bedroom door slowly, it sounds exactly like the intro to 'Not if You were the Last Junkie on Earth'.
When he does it fast, it sounds like the intro to the theme from 'Desmond's'.
So much so that this morning I dreamt I was in an episode. Desmond had two shirts on and everyone wanted to know why.
I also dreamt I was on a cruise ship in 1950s swimwear, whilst on the phone to another cruise ship passenger with one of those old brass phone thingies (a posh version of the'can-and-string').
I think I might do a weekly 'Roota's Dreams' thread. Seriously. I wake up exhausted because they're so vivid.
EDIT: What have you been dreaming about?

Apart from Christmas, what are you all excited about? And when is it going to happen?

Sorry to post this here but I thought wasn't interesting enough for /links plus you lot are much more fluffy.
This says that steam (and tf2, hl2, css, etc.) are being ported to OSX.
I had a little browse on the steam forums and there's a scary amount of anti-mac sentiment there. I know they're all gamers and therefore all pretty much young idiots, but can anyone explain why people hate macs - and by extension, mac-users - so much?
As far as I can tell, the best argument so far is: "Macs are overpriced", so apart from the obvious envy angle I just don't get the hate.
Also - what do you gamers out there think? I know there's probably some 5punkers about. Personally, I think it'll mean that more bugs are ironed out due to the different build processes catching different things.
I might be a mac/linux-user.
