Evening Bumders.
What are you doing?
(, Thu 20 Jan 2011, 20:32, 79 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Those moments when you realise someone thinks you're a cunt.
So I have just had a visit from someone who owed me money and he said he would call when he was outside. Not a friend just an acquaintance who buys gear off me occasionally. Well I heard him coming in his badboy car so walked out to meet him as I got to his car my phone started ringing. I tapped on his window and could clearly see on his phone display 'calling TURD'

When have you realised someone thinks you're a cunt?

Why hasn't anyone sarted a new thread?
Must I do EVERYTHING around here?

Alt: which of the world religions (if any) appeals to you - on any level including purely aesthetic grounds.

From an artistic and ritualistic persepctive I love pretty much all of them. Christian (and for that matter Islamic) architecture has been fairly consistently impressive thoughout history - and the Buddhist stupas of India (cut from single rocks) are fucking incredible.

It seems to me that religious faith has brought out the best and worst in humanity throughout history and in all cultures.

Bored, bored, bored.
This week is dragging big-time. I am off to see my pal's new child this evening and have a curry whilst I am about it. Thought you'd like to know this.

Who is your favourite painter of all time and why?

NB anyone saying 'Jacko from 'Brush Strokes'' is
a) old, and
b) looking for a smack in the fucking mouth. JEFF.

ALT: What's new, Pussycat?
(, Thu 20 Jan 2011, 15:05, 282 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Dull!
Last night I had to spend an hour removing the accumulation of fluff from my tumble drier for it to work correctly. Can anyone out-bore that for entertainment??

Alt Q:
Most exciting thing that has happened this week?

Alt Alt Q:
Whats for lunch?
(, Thu 20 Jan 2011, 13:42, 146 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Geek overload!
Im very excited about the amount of Superhero films out this year what with the recently released pics of X-Men: First Class and the news of Anne Hathaway playing Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy being Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.

What are your thoughts on these, if any, and what films are you looking forward to being released??

Fuck me it's shit on here today.
By banning inflammatory preacher and lolarious same-name-as-that-bloke-from-Monty-Python Terry Jones from the UK are we just handing him publicity on a plate? Would have made better sense just to let him do his crazed ranting and let him slip into obscurity? Also should he not be allowed to voice his opinions, ludicrous and inflammatory as they may be, seeing as we live in a supposed 'free' society?

Alt: Why do birds sing so gay, and lovers await the break of day?

I woke up read lits thread and fell asleep again.
What's your favourite way to beat insomnia?
(, Thu 20 Jan 2011, 8:32, 105 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I woke up to Radio 4
paraphrasing Lady Warsi as having warned that describing Muslims as either “moderate” or “extremist” fosters growing prejudice, and also calling on muslim moderates to reject the extremists.

Then read the FB status of a friend currently in Vegas: Sadly, I can no longer say I've never seen anyone do erotic dance with an angle grinder.

Going to be an odd day. What's made you go 0_o lately?

AltQ: Had a cold for 5 days, not bad enough to keep me off work but enough to make me feel crappy. Who's ill?

So is every bugger off to Montstock, this evening?
in which case, those of us who aren't, what mean tricks can we play on those guys while they're out?
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 18:14, 66 replies, latest was 15 years ago)

Monty, the tubey bastards have closed district from embankment all the way east to Dagenham east purely to satotage Montfest. I think a stronely worded letter needs to be written. For everyone else going, check local busses. This public service announcement has been brought to you by me, that'll be a pint please (and the circle line and of course H&C is closed just in case more people go "dur the yellow line goes there")

alt q - i am drinking beer as i am working from home. how do you slack off?
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 14:34, 182 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
A question on principles.
My company haven't given me a pay rise in three years, they claim their profits are suffering in the recession and we all have to take a hit. OK, fair enough, everybody's struggling. However, in a few months time they are throwing a sort of awards ceremony to congratulate the best team in the company. Accommodation is provided, the awards thing is in a high-end hotel and it's black tie. They can afford to do this, but not give me a few more quid a month. Interesting.

I've refused to go as I feel that I'm here to do a job, get paid and go home. That's basically the extent of the involvement I want to have as I strongly resent having to work for a living and if I'm doing a good job, I would like that to be reflected in my pay packet, not with a gay award sitting in the office. I'm now getting pressured to attend as I'm apparently not being a team-player.

So on one hand I have my principles saying "this is bullshit" and on the other hand I've got what's probably going to be a fairly entertaining, paid for night out that I'm getting pressured to go to.

What would you do?
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 14:32, 19 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Nu Fred.
Clothes: we all have them.

Some of us (my brother, pour l'example) claim that they care nothing for clothes and that they are merely a method of keeping warm/dry etc. This is a fucking Jimmy Hill of epic proportions as we are talking about a man who, at certain times in his life, has had
a) A Robert Smith style old-skool goth dyed black back-combed thatch
b) three foot dreadlocks
c) handmade (by him) patchwork trousers
d) a cape (I might be making this up)
etc etc

I say clothes are vitally important as a means of wordless communication to pretty much everyone, and those denying it are either stupid, lying, delusional or a combination of all three. They aren't meaningless at all - even if the meaning that the wearer is hoping to convey is 'look, I don't care about clothes, me'.

Do you agree, or am I just a 'Schpanish peacock' like Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez?

I want some more random crap to read through
but you all seem to have run away. Have you run away?

Boring Alt Q because I can't be assed to think very long and hard about this: Most random thing purchased on eBay?

long thread is too far over to the right
so the trainee has just cracked and gone out for a fag, having given up for new year. thank god, he has been irritable all week! he is moaning a lot but i am finding it hard to have any sympathy, because he knew what smoking did to him when he took it up, so there is 100% contrib neg, in my sympathetic supervisor's opinion.

so the question is, what is the hardest thing you've ever had to give up? did you stick to it?? or take up (eg running)??? and did you stick to that????
(, Wed 19 Jan 2011, 11:10, 226 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
Moaning folks!
bashbashbashbashbashbashbashbashbash!

That is all.

(, Tue 18 Jan 2011, 21:48, 176 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I should probably do some ironing.
But I can't be bothered. Perhaps more pressing than that, the Christmas decorations are still up. I can't be arsed to take them down, either.

What are you lot procrastinating about?

Calling all computer geeks for help
I don't know if anyone can help me, but for my research I've ended up with a load of files called 3d216 through to 3d939 and 3a216 through to 3a939. The program I need to use won't work unless they're numbered 3d001 through to 3dxxx and 3a001 through to 3axxx. Can I rename them all in sequence in one go or this is going to take me hours?

Sorry for being such a computer dunce and not being able to program in python so I can't edit the program I'm using :(

Advice thread
but not boring, waaah relationships or OMG technology advice.

How should I go about blagging tickets to an opening night of a new bar near me?

It'll be in a couple of months and I've got the email address so I thought send them a email asking nicely? Think that'll work?

Seeing as Rswipe and Colonel Dracula are internet husband and wife, who would you choose as internet spouse?
This has nothing to do with looks but based on compatibility, humour etc
(, Tue 18 Jan 2011, 13:40, 206 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
If you could (and have too), change the following attributes about yourself to a celeb's attribute, what celeb would you choose and why?
- Inteligance
- Sense of Humour
- Looks
- Talent (you can pick up to 3)
- Sense of Morals
- Lifestyle

Well I don't know about you but I've never set fire to an item of clothing or played bingo, but I reckon doing both at once could be pretty exhilarating.
How do you get your kicks?
