Herman's done an excellent job making it as small as he has
but why not just post a thumbnail and link to a full colour decent size gif or better still a youtube version which would take less time to load due to it actually having compression code developed this side of 1995 AND have sound?
or if you need to post it on board push it just a touch further - same joke 150 wide instead of 175 for 254kb:

Yes 400k is quite small by todays standards, but you don't need to broadcast in HD to get a punchline across.
And if you do, just provide a link to a full res version like people do with pictures.

So, who does one petition to get the FAQ changed?
Rob has deserted b3ta, the FAQ was written ages ago, and even people on smartphones can get 3g most places these days. Reply GIF & pic size restrictions would be a lot better IMHO than draconian original post restrictions, particularly when I log on the morning after a gayshift dance party...

Last night I dreamt I was living in the middle of nowhere in America
in an old wooden house that had pheasants wandering in and out.
I got out of bed to feed some cats and saw there were bloody footprints all round the kitchen.
Going outside to see how the flooding and snow was doing (there was a whirlpool/sink hole in a field next door) I was interrupted by a couple of police cars. The police got out and asked if I'd seen anything suspicious. I told them about the bloody footprints and they said that there was a murderer on the loose and that I shouldn't go back inside.
The police looked around the house for a bit before giving up and wandering off.
Then I woke up. I'd rather dream of cats smoking spliffs to be honest.

It wasn't cats and it wasn't a spliff.
It involved mild anxiety while rolling and lighting a cigarette which then burnt all the way to the end in one drag.
My dreams are either entirely dull (see above) or rather cinematic. My best recent one involved a shootout between secret agents and andriods. It had bullet time and sweeping camera shots and was against the backdrop of a thudding rap track that my radio alarm was playing to try and wake me up.

Before b3ta died the other day, my t-mobile phone would NEVER get b3ta, ever. I would get a '504 - gateway timeout' error. When b3ta came back up, I could get to it on my phone.
