karens are generally privileged white women making a big deal about some minor bullshit or inconvenience, such as covid restrictions, like it's the end of fucking world.
This is just white trash

Interesting.
Weird how the disadvantaged can be seen to punch sideways rather than up. Lashing out in the wrong direction doing, at best, minimal damage to your own position is very much the zeitgeist of 2016-.

it conveniently gives them a sense of power, a tribe to belong to, and someone to blame for their circumstances. And because social disadvantage is often linked to educational level, it makes the nonsense beliefs easier to swallow.
so "white trash supremacist" isn't rare but the norm. I'd like to see more Dianna Ross supremacists

A quick morning stretch. Calisthenics.
This song (but, with Japanese speech) is played every morning, on lots of public radio stations acros Japan. It's very traditional.
School children learn it. Millions do it, in public parks and in company offices.
When I was teaching English in Japan, one day I was sitting at a row of computers, with students on the others. I found out about Radio Taiso, so I played the song. Instantly - from the first three notes - all the students stood up and started doing the moves, in synch... which was hilarious.
But in all seriousness - it's a nice quick stretch, and easy for anyone.

In 2014, the skeletons of 800 babies were found thrown in a septic tank in Galway. The Catholic Church in Ireland did this. A commission was set up to investigate. The Mother and Baby Homes Commission of Investigation.
The findings of this commission are about to be locked away for 30 years.
This means, No one will be able to find information about missing relatives, or relatives buried in unmarked graves. Information about how the system of forced separation of mothers and babies in Ireland was run, will be sealed away too.

Maybe, but it also prevents reprisals against those responsible who may still be alive. Even if the actual perpetrators aren't around any more, it's quite likely that there are still people around who actively covered it up, or just knew and did nothing.

For a supposed New Space company, they've taken the Boeing approach to space contracts. Get your nose in the trough, then keep extracting funding. I sometimes wonder if SpaceX were missing a trick by actually delivering something.

(, Tue 13 Oct 2020, 16:24, Reply)
It exists because people will pay good money for a trip into space, just for lulz - and it's likely to be relatively affordable.
OK, maybe 50 grand or more at first - but some will pay that, just to become one of the very few that have been to space. And the cost will fall rapidly, until it's not much different from doing a parachute jump.
I'm not trying to argue with you. Just, this is a very different thing - you're comparing apples and oranges, or comparing a Ford Fiesta to a Formula-1 car.
Yeah, all the delays are annoying - but that's pretty standard in space flight. At least they are making progess, that's the main thing. Barring a disaster, it'll take people within a year, I think.
(, Tue 13 Oct 2020, 16:45, Reply)
And I think that Bezos and Branson are stuck behind the curve. Going straight up to peek your head above the Kármán line before coming back to where you started is, as you say, like a parachute jump. It isn't very useful.
Starship and Skylon could actually take you places you want to go via spaaaaaaaace.
(, Tue 13 Oct 2020, 17:10, Reply)
