An hour-long mix of weird & wonderful music & other audio oddities that was put together for an episode of Skam Records' AMKS.live online radio show (most of which is available here).

enjoyed that. Harks back to the early 2000's when "the internet" was a big driving force behind interesting tunes

you sure can pick 'em.
the inference that if you can somehow prove that these individual incidents of police violence were justified, it follows that the BLM movement was otherwise happy prosperous citizens who've been fooled into protest. It's a canard. The anger is always there, unfair and targeted police treatment is a regular experience of black americans, on top of the lives of struggle and disenfranchisement many live . It just takes different sparks to set it off. They'll be more deaths in police custody, some of them will be justified, but many wont. I thought the vox pops in the end painting cops as the victims a bit rich, as if many of them arent cunts who abuse their power.
Im sure of posted this before, but here's Neil Degrasse Tyson www.youtube.com/watch?v=YK0p0DzZVzI talking about how even wealthy black academics experience police profiling. If I was a black american, I reckon I'd be fed up and angry too.

they wasted about 20 minutes talking about the protest before they got to their point of the supposed miscarriage. but as soon as they started making untrue claims that have been floating around rightwing corners of the internet, I thought I'd look up who alpha news were: Quelle surprise
Floyds drug use was extensive discussed in the trial, rather than suppressed as the video falsely claims, with the medical examiner concluding that his drug use did not contribute at all to his death by cutting of his oxgenwww.reuters.com/article/idUSL1N3241XJ/
the "knee to the back of the neck was part of the authorised police training" was also comprehensively rejected in the trial by the police trainers themselves www.npr.org/sections/trial-over-killing-of-george-floyd/2021/04/05/984587443/former-training-commander-on-chauvin-neck-restraint-thats-not-what-we-train.
The second half of the video was a selection of cops talking about how hard it is to be cop because they can't act with impunity like they used to, they're the real victims here, intercut with pictures of biden. It's just rightwing trash rehashing long refuted claims to the gullible, as if somehow if they can prove floyds verdict was unsound it will delegitimise the BLM movement. I honestly wasted too much of my time looking at it, I should have known better

Are you *sure* mate?

But I reckon why the rightwing wanted to attack the BLM is that it's useful for them if people fear them, instead of being sympathetic. Same with mexicans, trannies, "woke culture", whatever blame distraction from the sad fact it's become a plutocracy. It's not motivated by racism, but it's convenient to harness and stoke it

By the old Moulmein Pagoda chip shop, lookin' lazy at the scene,
There's a Burma girl a-settin', and I know she thinks o' me;
For the wind is in the high-street, and the church-bells they say:
"Come you back, you B3tan poster; come you back to Timperly! "
Come you back to Timperly, Where the old canal barges lay:
Can't you 'ear their paddles chunkin' from Runcorn to Timperly ?
On the road to Timperly, Where those fryin' fishes play,
An' the dawn comes up like thunder outer Wythenshawe 'crost the way!

I worked in a shop selling electronic stuff in the early '90s and baffling Chinglish was a thing back then...definitely not a modern occurrence born of bad autotranslation...

Good auto translation has spoiled some harmless fun.

someone's just hammered in lots of different short codes during labelling to generate gibberish. Perhaps to illustrate why proofreading is important, seems unlikely they'd have got it *that* wrong accidentally. Mind you, I've come across some howlers in my time.
(, Thu 4 Jan 2024, 8:16, Reply)
but depending on how it was set up they would have typed something like "N AC OD T QD TD Q3 [-HOURS] TD T1 T2 T3 1-2" to get that. I'm guessing the gibberish directions were on the original prescription, and a dispenser reproduced it on the label either to show how ridiculous it was or because they were really fucking stupid.
(, Thu 4 Jan 2024, 15:55, Reply)
I have plenty of prescription errors, which aren't much fun as a patient.
(, Thu 4 Jan 2024, 16:19, Reply)
all the terrifyingly frequent and common prescribing and dispensing errors are well lol.

Noone ever accidentally prescribes me diazepam or pethidine, trigeminal neuralgia and all I got was this lousy carbamazepine.

Like on my first day as an FY1 when one of the ward nurses asked me to prescribe forticreme for a patient and I had no idea what it was so I just prescribed it QDS Topical.

Apart from the hilariously incoherent, inaccurate and lethal SC diamorphine doses for a palliative care patient in a nursing home (when I queried it, initial response from another GP at the practice was a weary "what's she done now") my favourites were the directions for diazepam 10mg tablets to be administered "one in each eye" and for Glutafin crackers to be "inserted once daily".
