Imagine entire islands and vast building complexes eerily abandoned virtually in your own back yard. This seemingly far-fetched scenario might be more real than you realize. Complexes of more than 150 buildings and even small islands are located near the heart of major cities such as Houston and Washington DC. From insane asylums to military bases, hotels to theme parks and seminaries to silos here are 7 more abandoned wonders of the USA.

I mean I love "Lost Highway" for gods sake, I'm currently watching "Twin Peaks" on the lovely new DVD set etc... he is way off base here IMO. Remember the Father Ted bit with Ted explaining "Close... Very far away" to Dougal?
My TV is 20". It's crap. Having my iPod Touch a few inches from my eyes gives, in regards to size, a better experience than staring at my piece of shit TV on the other side of the room. Yet we don't hear Lynch bitching about shit televisions.
I would never buy a movie in an iPhone exclusive format, but clearly Mister Lynch, bless the mad old fucker, needs a lesson in scale and perception.

Perspective dosnt take compression into account, hes referring to all of the tiny details you would miss. Set design, subtle glances, changes of background scenery, all very important when making a film.
It dosnt matter how close you hold it to your face
a. your gonna look like an eedjot with iphone goggles
b. quality diminishes the closer you hold it
of course im not having a go or anything, each to there own and all that, its just the arty film-maker in me being pedantic, i do apologise. id watch t.v programmes on one but never a film.

I watched Rescue Dawn on my iPod on a long train journey recently. I'm fairly confident I've now seen that movie.
( , Fri 11 Jan 2008, 18:17, Reply)

that you think you've seen a film on a fucking telephone (iPod).
Get real.
( , Tue 15 Jan 2008, 12:02, Reply)

I completely agree, been making this point since the psp came out.
( , Fri 11 Jan 2008, 19:45, Reply)

Have you seen how big the PSP screen is? It's perfectly adequate for watching a movie on the go.
( , Sun 13 Jan 2008, 14:18, Reply)

Its about immersion into an art form. Sure ytou can get away with watching anchorman or something but blade runner? schindlers list? your missing so much of the film at that size and compression and its no longer the vision the director had. Its like putting the mona lisa on a stamp and saying thats just as good as the original if you hold it fright up to your face :D

Lynch is my directorial hero and I love him even more now!
iPhone... fuck that shit...
( , Fri 11 Jan 2008, 20:53, Reply)

When it takes an hour to download a film to make your train journey in the morning less of a nighmare by detaching you from all the freaks who are sharing your journey, I really don't thiink it matters. We're not sitting in our lounges with iPhones. Bless.

First video down, every single bit as hideous as it sounds. The only thing scarier than the girl is her mother, who looks like someone who didn't make it past the audition for the Thriller video.
Also, further down there's a video of Robin Williams splitting his trousers, looks like he's back on the coke again. Woo!

Didn't someone post it on a board and loads of other people make up little sad stories to go with it, then someone said the bird was most likely preparing to eat the other one?
( , Sun 6 Jan 2008, 23:41, Reply)

SOmeone put a series of photos that they had taken, and put captions that suggested the love bird had lost it's dearly departed...
Then some Ornothologist pointed out that the live bird was fucking the dead one.

This man starts every day with mince pies and a turkey toastie. He unwraps a present, pulls crackers, eats more turkey for lunch, watches a tape of the Queen's speech...every day, for 15 years.
I don't get it, but hey, he seems happy.
