Went to check the live cam from one station and at 5.30am the dings were going continuously, goodness knows how anyone sleeps through that.
Lived next to a line once and the first train woke me every single morning.

It's a really good and clever game.
But I'm rubbish at it. Apparently I can't pick 5-letter words out of the air. I've never acquired that mutually-agreed voluntary mental illness that cryptic crossword people seem to share.

Rhubarb Barbara
The German word for rhubarb is rhabarber. In a children's story, Barbara makes great rhubarb cake. She's known as RhabarberBarbara. She opens a bar, which is frequented by hairy barbarians, who need a barber. Hilarity ensues.

The full first episode of Bad Dinosaurs is on youtube, if you fancy having a gander but can't be bothered to Netflix it. Hope you like it!
No, no. You're totally right.
Agent 47 is undoubtedly more iconic than Sonic the Hedgehog and anybody who questions Lara Croft's legitimacy as the most iconic video game character of all time is clearly a gammon.

Bollocks for sure
Is it because it's a British game?
(Sherbs, Fri 5 Apr 2024, 11:42,

Probably. According to the BAFTA site: "the poll was engaged with by over 4,000 players from all over the world". Which has to be complete fucking bollocks, because even of the only place the poll was submitted was r/tombraider, I'd find the result fucking dubious. Never mind the fact that a sample size of 4,000 is ridiculously small. The BAFTA article absolutely reeks of AI-generated text - it wouldn't surprise me if the results of the poll were AI generated too, although fuck knows what criteria/parameters they used to get that result.

iconic is an arbitrary poorly defined metric
if you were to interpret it narrowly, as in "most used as an icon or cultural reference in other contexts" there's a lot more mario stuff being sold, worn, and emblazoning kid's lunchbox than lara croft. they did a couple of movies, but everthing gets that these days. The witcher got two whole seasosns, not just a movie, fallout is getting one. The creeper from minecraft would be right up there, I see that fucking everywhere these days as a reason to spend an extra 10 quid on a t-shirt or alarm clock for your minecraft obsessed kid The bafta seems more like the criteria Rolling Stone have for its top albums list, which is "what do this cadre of judges of a certain age like the most". I wouldn't pay it too much mind. {edit} was it really an internet poll? that even shitter
