I don't bother with Jim's reviews any more, occasionally I'll listen to a ratings breakdown but hearing what these turdblossoms are up to is highly bumfuzzling. Some of the stuff AEW does would gag a maggot off a gutwag, as Aunt Lola used to say.

I had a bit of a breakdown last week and have been spiralling since. I've had issues with anxiety before, never bad enough to medicate, but this time I've been really bad, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, the whole nine yards. It took me until this morning to even call my best mate - who has been through similar in the past - which is fucking ridculous.
I think we're better than we used to be about talking about this stuff, but it's still stupidly difficult to make that call, even though I expect the majority of my friends have their own issues.
Anyway, feeling a bit more human now, and have a doctor's appointment next week.

This is a normal post don't get anxious about your anxiety and compound it, is my anonymous internet advice
just accept you're feeling it with a detached acknowledgement, like it's your haemorroid playing up again. something that will be unpleasant but won't kill you. it's just feelings. you recognise it, and developing the self-awarenes to recognise when you're catastrophising because of it is also part of that, but you'll find ways to function despite it while you slowly wait for your equilibrium to eventually return.
I'm afraid that's all we're got time for. If you'd like to book another session, speak to frida on the way out

This is a normal post Been there, and boy does it suck
but the hardest part of getting better is asking for help, and you’ve done that bit! Yay! Go you! etc

Meds might work for you, they might not. Personally I found them useful to get me the space/capacity to find a therapist, and that talking to a professional was what really helped me.

My GP said two things that stuck with me:
“Treatments are like trying on jeans. Some of them fit, some of them don’t, but you can always try a different pair”

“Therapy is like going through your pockets, working out what’s rubbish you can throw away, what’s a credit card receipt you need to deal with, and what’s a treasured item you need to hang on to”

Good luck, I hope you get the help you need, and can come out with lighter pockets.

This is a normal post It has fucked space science and history content on yt.
Slop videos are regularly snuck into my feed. Robot voice, aimless repetitive script saying odd things and mispronouncing words and names than no expert or enthusiast ever would... Filler text consisting of cliches and dead end tangents... It's not always super easy to spot the stuff instantly, which is annoying.

Occasionally a friend will try to talk to me about something astronomical and increasingly the stuff they tell me is complete bollocks from a slop video.

YT is fully on board and is actively encouraging content creators to make this crap, according to Universe Today. We need a human-only alternative.

This is a normal post so i think what they're basically saying is, they're incapable of making a product which immediately distinguishes itself from ai-generated garbage
also a lot of righteous anger about stealing the work of creative people in a video which does not have a single original defining element. Everything in this is drawn from the work and ideas of others who came before. I don't think it's any better than the thing it criticizes.

This is a normal post Not a fair comparison, they talk a lot about fact checking.
Yes, almost everything builds on what has gone before, with humans making attempts to verify, the current iteration of 'AI' doesn't seem to differentiate much between established fact and opinion/propaganda/conspiracy bollocks.
(, Thu 9 Oct 2025, 16:28, Reply)
This is a normal post It's absolutely fucking terrifying how much trust/reliance the yoot are putting in ChatGPT.
At first I thought the whole 'I asked ChatGPT and...' was a joke, but it turns out that they're genuinely fact checking everything via LLM's instead of researching and verifying things independently. A huge number of these kids have completely lost the inability/incentive to think for themselves because ChatGPT is giving them that instant hit in much the same way as their short-form infinite-scrolling social media platforms do.

I suppose you could argue that it's no worse than our generation relying on Wikipedia as a reliable source of information, but something about this seems far more portentous.
(, Fri 10 Oct 2025, 6:00, Reply)
This is a normal post We've always had slop
Stock Aitken and Waterman flooded the music world with slop. It's just the amount of slop.

AI can generate slop in sufficient quantities to drown out genuinely creative humans. It's already pretty much there in science papers.
(, Thu 9 Oct 2025, 1:11, Reply)
This is a normal post SAW music wasn't slop.
It was derived from Motown and acid house and is actually rather well written in some cases. Not being to your taste doesn't make it slop.

You are also trying to equate truth with art. Art slop is not the same problem as fake news/science/history.
