Mashups have got a bit boring but this is a good new angle you've taken on them.
Any chance of an mp3?

I would have left out the Zombies though (much as I liked them)

i wonder if she thought then 'i'm talking shit here....i must be if all these people agree with him'
or whether she's just too thick skinned and self righteous to twig

I went to see Ross Noble last year and halfway through his set, AFTER the interval, this woman stands up and interrupts him with "Um, Ross, could you not swear to much because i've brought my ten year old daughter"
He was absolutely dumbfounded and was incredulously asking her WHY she'd brought the kid to a show recommended for over-15s, and WHY she'd actually come BACK after the interval when she'd had the perfect opportunity to go after seeing what his set consisted of.
The next 10 mins were spent awkwardly shuffling through his material apologising for pretty much every sentence that came out of his mouth until the heckler and her spawn finally left.
Ross's reaction: "Thank FOOK for that, like! What a retarded bint!"
The rest of the show was all of the ace, hehe.
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 14:44, Reply)
Although Noble's crowd does seem to have a high dependancy on drama/performing arts students.

(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 16:06, Reply)
what you probably don't know about this is that this was all part of the show. the show was called is this offensive now? or something like that and the woman and the bloke sitting next to her were actors. towards the end of the show they get up on the stage and brendon burns says 'i wasn't meant to be offensive' and they both go 'we were meant to be ofFUNsive! thats why he won the perrier award! it was supposed to be a show about confronting racism and the people who shout racist at everyone.
(, Sun 19 Oct 2008, 19:36, Reply)
I didn't pick up on that even though it does look slightly premeditated looking back on it.
Also explains the reviews for the show:

i spose its the same as in the uk, some "comedy" here at the moment is depressingly awful. to the point where people are just numb...
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 12:57, Reply)
Seems a shame though that, while there actually is some decent comedy around at the moment, we export Little Britain to the USA. I f*cking hate that show.

Just make sure the reviewers don't leave at the interval thinking the show's over!

I could rant on for a good while about the timbre, texture and quality of this mans voice because he is in the top 5 soul singers of all time but I think Billy Bragg sums it up.
Levi Stubbs Tears.
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 1:54, Reply)
1. Gil-Scott Heron
2. Marvin Gaye
3. Al Green
4. Otis Redding
5. Miles Davis
...
2873. Levi Stubbs
He was an 'also-ran' at best, just because he's dead doens't mean he's suddenly talented.
It's always sad when people die, but it's even sadder when dead people get idolised. Especially when they don't deserve it.
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 2:08, Reply)
miles davis wouldn't be in any top 5 singers list though... maybe sam cooke / solomon burke? love curtis mayfield's voice too.
shouldn't aretha head up any list that contains the words 'soul' and 'singer'?
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 2:37, Reply)
Sam Cooke in your list so that doesn't work for a start.
Miles Davis was a boring shade of blue and all that jazz.
I do like my Gil Scott Heron and lets face it he was one of the true originators of hiphop along with the last poets but i like my early soul
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 2:40, Reply)
I guess I put miles in more as an artist than a singer.
You didn't see Sam Cooke because he's in the top 10, not the top 5. You'd also see Marlena Shaw in there.
And yes, it was hastily created in response to putting Levi Stubbs in that league rather than as a definitive list. Thanks though, you've just sent me on a Sam Cooke binge.
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 4:53, Reply)
You have style and taste.
Do you have any of the Soul Stirrers stuff that Sam Cooke sang on? it's gospel and fucking beautiful.
(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 5:32, Reply)
I'll keep an eye for it next time I'm looking.

(, Sat 18 Oct 2008, 5:47, Reply)
Miles Davis isn't a soul singer by any stretch of the imagination.

To be fair, they did credit every single person so it isn't such an issue.
The issue with people like NUTS, ZOO and The Daily Mail is that they never credit anyone properly.
