but I have to at least thank them for killing indie music.
Can't listen to more than 30 seconds of that - how do they not know it sounds so grating?

Valve's Source FilmMaker, used to make their Meet the Team videos and other promo stuff, has been released to beta. It's pretty great.

still nicely done as you say
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 12:23, Reply)

nice, does it do the lip sync for you?
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 12:32, Reply)

It does a really good job with clean dialogue but I had to mess around with that one because of the background rain and music etc.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 12:35, Reply)

Record yourself reading the lines and use that for the lip sync then replace the soundtrack later.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 13:09, Reply)

Yeah, I thought of that. But I had already done a bit, and I was tired, and I kept getting the timing wrong.
Next time. That 88 seconds was a 12 hour learning curve. Never done anything like it before.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 13:11, Reply)

do you get an email or what?
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 13:28, Reply)

I restarted Steam and got a popup saying I had it, so then I just clicked to install. I didn't get an email. Some people have said it just turned up in their games list.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 13:45, Reply)

(have steam installed and switched on at the moment, but never use it)

I got this the other day and its great. This is some blokes review on it. I don't think he had his audio sorted out very well though.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 11:30, Reply)

Loved it though. Seems longer than 15 years ago, though.

It was solid. I had the Amiga version but it was good on the megadrive too.
The Snes version had unnecessary music all through the gameplay. Just the sound effects were needed to add to the atmosphere i think.

Already so bored of hearing about the olympics. Big sports day. Woop-de-doo!
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 10:58, Reply)

it should include the egg and spoon, 3-legged and sack race and half the contestants should be forced to take part in their underwear or something from the lost and found box.
Only then would I consider watching it
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 11:03, Reply)

All I've seen so far is adverts for "The Offical Olympic X" and endorsements for bloody Subway. With all that corporate sponsorship why did the taxpayer have to pony up at all?

I was on my bike, with Offspring A in the tagalong.
After it passed, we followed it down the road a bit as that was the way we were heading anyway.
It slowed down to negotiate a roundabout. I didn't realise, and threaded through the buses and official vehicles until we were almost upon the torch. We cycled for a few moments with some chaps on fancy race bikes who were there officially. Got cheered on by the massed crowds. Was lots of fun.
They slowed right down and I thought it best not to go any further. I knocked over a small child while leaving the main road. Those tagalongs need lots of turning space.

The first best known for sharing a name with a more famous TV astronomer and for playing Hannibal Lector until they found a much better one. And the second for... probably there's something. Coincidentally both have been consistently overlooked for work and awards south of the border...
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 11:27, Reply)

You will see that Cox played the best Lector. Hopkins plays it like a panto.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 14:40, Reply)

You will see that both critically and commercially Silence is one of the most successful films in history. It's an overused word but Hopkins' knighthood/Oscar/BAFTA/everything-else-winning performance was iconic. You can probably quote at least three of his lines. And if Plaid Cymru got him on board, it would be a shitload more impressive and effective than Brian fucking Cox.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 17:34, Reply)

And not a bad one at that. He played Saturninus (sp?) in the film adaption of Titus, which is worth a watch just for his hamminess.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 16:18, Reply)

To give him credit, he was also cast by Kubrick who was not prone to error.

that at family parties he is sick of hearing 'my arm..MY ARM' and everyone laughing. I constantly take the piss out of mini-me for stupid things he did as a kid. Not nice at the time, but funny as long as they don't kill themselves.
( , Sun 8 Jul 2012, 1:10, Reply)

My parents were OVERJOYED when I ran in to the kitchen flapping an arm, explaining how fucking stupid I was.

and ending up hanging from it by his underpants. He didn't break anything but when mini-me mentioned it in his best mans speech (when he was 7) my brother nearly wept at the memory. Oh how we all laughed.

Also, there's is NOTHING funny about morbidly obese people. I find it absolutely DISGUSTING that people can eat themselves to that fucked-up state in the developed world when people elsewhere are dying for want of basic nutrition.
