I tried to give money to an old age bag lady yesterday morning outside the Barclay's in Camden, she looked at me, and didn't look at me, as if I was simply insane! A fucking tenner I was gesturing in my hand, after using the cashpoint where she was stood

Perhaps she was an eccentric millionaire, disturbed by my gingerness; I shall never know

But I felt freaked out walking up Parkway to the Zoo

but this was genuinely the strangest situation i've been in

She obviously had her life's possessions in numerous Tesco plastic bags, I was withdrawing somthing random like fifty quid, and was overcome with fluffiness. I remarked if she had eaten with change in my hand, got no response, at which point asked directly if she wanted any money, and offered her the note. She turned her back! Class, perhaps she thought I thought she was a hooker at nine AM in the morning in need of some unwashed, sixty+ bit of rough first thing
(, Thu 20 Mar 2008, 23:12, archived)
# This is very generous of you.
My last brush with a bag person was a character in Tottenham Court Road who was sat barefoot with a sign saying "need money for shoes". As I had just bought myself a new pair, I left him my old ones. They were still in fair nick, and about the right size judging by his build.

He threw one after me as I walked away.

I can only imagine it's less easy to buy drugs with old shoes.

Well, neither is Ross...
Mum doesn't seem like family to me, either.
I don't really fit in with anyone I live with.

But it's always been like this.

I want something like that.

I hate feeling this distant, this cut off from everyone.
(, Thu 20 Mar 2008, 22:43, archived)
# Aw
I can understand that. I dunno, I guess like, mofaha's been there since I can remember. I don't remember living with just me and mum, though I know we did, but I remember the divorce.

*huge hugs*
(, Thu 20 Mar 2008, 22:50, archived)
# *doesn't let go*
I can't remember the last time anyone hugged me.

I don't remember mum and dad's divorce.
One moment he was there, the next he wasn't.
I've spent more time alive without dad here than with.

Andy's been with is for almost 10 years now, and I never got close to him. I never got close to mum.
I'm closest to dad, but we don't talk about the past. We have, however, and it always ended in tears. And not all of them were mine.
I spend all week looking forward to seeing dad. Until recently that was all I look forward to, but now there are two other things.
Your letters, and a person I'm not going to mention, but I know you know what I mean.
(, Thu 20 Mar 2008, 22:55, archived)
# Gosh!
I didn't know all that. I mean, I don't get along with my mum, but I definately don't look forward to going to dad's. I used to. But now, it's just like...isolation or something.
(, Thu 20 Mar 2008, 22:58, archived)
# Hahah, I suppose there's a lot you don't know.
I look forward to seeing dad because he acts more than my mum does to influence my life.
Mum sees me as someone who can just get on with things and doesn't need to be told how to live my life, which is alright to a point.
But I get too focused on the wrong things, and dad knows that.
He's always pushing me and giving me a hard time, and I love him for it because I know what he's doing.
I look forward to seeing him because it's different every time, and I always learn something valuable from him.
That, and he's a silly bastard who doesn't know when to stop joking :)

# Only if by "leaving" you mean "departing this mortal coil"

He's been trying to find somewhere to stay for a while now.
Mum and her boyfriend are living in the lounge, and have been for weeks. With my stepdad and his son living with us the whole time.
It's been really weird around here.

(, Thu 20 Mar 2008, 22:54, archived)

# Until recently, we lived in a tiny cottage.
It was so small that barely any of us could fit in any room at one time.
Once I got a computer in my room, I never left.
Mum and Stepdad were always out working, Stepbrother with his girlfriend...
Sometimes, my stepsister visited. That made six of us, without my stepbrother's girlfriend.
It was hard because we were all in close proximity, and we kept fighting.

Mum thought that the house was the problem.
Eventually we moved out.

Things were good at first, but they began to revert back to the norm.
That's when mum realised she'd been lying to herself, and her husband, for the last two years of our life.

So now it's over.
This weekend marks the end of a ten year marriage, and I know it shouldn't affect me but it does.

# It was STUNNINGLY bad in teh early stages, series 1 t0 3 are mainly unwatchable,
however if you stick with it it improves as they stop being so damn desperate for viewing figures and remember to write a script that makes a modicum of sense to any vaguely able minded being, and some of the later series, in particular 4 and 5, are fantastic stuff IMO, and it became my fave Star Trek spin off.
