![Challenge Entry: MOCK THE POLITICIANS AND WIN A LAPTOP [challenge entry]](/images/board_posticon_c.gif)

I haven't posted in quite a long time. And have just been lurking for a while admiring everyone's work.
I was surprised to find this challenge up. For I thought B3ta was a place to post images people had worked on and wanted to share with other people.
I didn't realise it was some kind of political vehicle.
I should point out that i have no problem with individuals posting their own political pictures but that I do feel unnerved by politically sponsored competitions (even though they aren't mainstream).

I also disagree completely with myself, because I'm wrong too!

But those Conservative MEP's exclaiming the NHS is shite really sums all this up; vote for that if you think Brown is a wanker; or stay the course and have a little faith; these were troubled times for anyone to be in charge; i'm not convinced he is the best man for it, but conservatives certainly aren't

I would be equally annoyed if I saw a competition put up by say the conservatives criticising the labour party and I imagine that that wouldn't be greeted so well by users. I liked to look at this site as anymans place for posting what they like.
I saw the competitions as people's opportunity to think of something funny on a specific issue rather than a sponsored platform to push one spicific political idea.
Though to St's and jamnogs points i understand if the makers want to cash in a bit as it's probably not the most profit generating websites. It is his right to do what he likes with the site but i feel that one of the reasons I like to visit this site has been tarnished. Don't get me wrong I'm not leaving yet, just feel slightly saddened.

but finding a new image challenge is, I'm sure, never easy (i rarely enter because I'm not funny); so this is a new angle because there is a prize. I don't think it is the way B3ta is going: it is a one off for fun. I'd hate a Sponsered Comp every week: but that won't happen.

to the comments about the NHS, from the other side of the channel. Hannan didn't say he wanted to do away with universal healthcare, he just said that the NHS isn't the best model. Anyone thinking the NHS is the best model hasn't experienced continental healthcare standards and probably doesn't realise what they're missing. No offence to the doctors and nurses of the NHS, as it is not their fault that they are underresourced and suffering from too much bureaucracy. Nothing wil change, though, because it's being handled the same like immigration, debate is stifled by immediate misrepresentation and polarisation of any negative views.

"The 15 year-old got the certificate from exam board AQA after attending a three week holiday scheme run by Bury Youth Services earlier in the summer."
there are a large range of awards available and these sort of things are aimed towards people of mixed abilities, If someone is severely disabled then reaching a point in their life where they are able to perform day to day tasks is a massive achivement. It also helps carers judge the ability of the individual to look after themselves and how much care is needed in certain situations.
What they fail to mention in this article is the background to him getting the certificate, He could well have been on the holiday scheme with some mixed abilities and the whole group was entered for awards.
Or they could simply have ballsed up and awarded the certificates to this group instead of another group who were attending a scheme next week or the week before.

the thing that struck me was quite how many 'columnists' they have basically having full page rants about things in life they may or may not have understood
It's as if they go off on some rant without pausing for a moment to reflect for a moment on stuff that on the surface may seem unjust, but has greater depth, like the rest of us tend to do; or to put it more simply never progress from getting out of bed feeling grumpy
Even other right-wing papers like the Times and the Torygraph attempt something resembling a reasoned argument the intelligent have a least food for thought to reflect upon

My issues is with a party that has dragged us into a needless war, dug us into debt and at the momement is borrowing for a quick fix that will leave the next elected party with massive national debt, please dont make assumtions without the facts... Remember Brown is responsible for the current financial fall out form 3 disasterous budgets.... A lot of people forget that the mess he is cleaning up he created himself on an awfull lot of fronts.

It is normal for the government to choose when to call an election, and it would be pretty fucking stupid to call it when everyone is being all pissy 'because your smile is a bit funny like.' This is what I meant by 'you wanting him to.' You clearly dont want him in the job despite the fact that there is nothing wrong with it no matter what you think, and seem to think it would be somehow "right" for him to deliberately call an election at a bad time for the labour party, so that your favourite but inept and hypocritical tory party can have a few years in and fuck up the country good and proper.
What's funny/sad&pathetic is, there are essentially 2 broad groups of things that gordon brown has taken heavy flak for from the tory party. The most flak has been taken for the policies that are actually closest to what the fecking tories would have done themselves, but they bitch about it just because it wasnt them doing it and they realise people are too dull to realise this and will love to have a go. The other category are things that either needed to be done, or where actually just good ideas, that were practical solutions to difficult problems and were better than anyone else had come up with, not just in britain but other countries too. For these ideas he was mocked simply for being a bit awkward in some unrelated incidents that happened at around the same time.
As for not making assumptions without facts, are you in the cabinet or high up in the security services or something? You appear pretty confident claiming the government dragged us into a needless war. I think it's a bit different when you're the guy who has to make a decision like that. Further I would hardly call the current borrowing a quick fix, and nobody, including the tories had a better idea. Finally, stop being so small minded referring to how the 'next elected party' will be in debt like it is all some kind of game. I strongly suspect Gordon Brown is more concerned with the debt the COUNTRY will be in than how much debt cameron will have to work with.
