Erm, that about sums it up...
A stop motion animation music video we made. Some of y'all have enjoyed our stuff in the past. Hope you like this!
( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 14:10, Reply)

the concept works fine, however it really does need more frames to be effective as an animation I think. Though I'm a complete hypocrite here because I've done a lot of shoddy stop motion myself in the past and I realise it really does take exceptional talent to make it work.
I'd have been more inclined to make it more like the old Cosgrove Hall Wind in the Willows series www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn1b7YcznSk There's a warmth to that kind of intricacy in technique that'd make your bears more appealing I think. With the tone of the song, too.
Just a bit of constructive criticism!
( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 14:30, Reply)

And thank you kindly!
To be honest, when I think of the fluidity of your Aardman's and Wind In The Willows, part of me is almost hesitant to call it stop motion animation... Although it clearly is. The low frame rate and lo-fi - or shoddy :) - look is quite intentional, in terms of both style and budget. We tried to keep the movement of the figures as minimal as possible so the music would speak, even move, for them... And there was no budget to speak of, and a deadline to meet... Hence, our own brand of bespoke shoddiness :)
We have priors with the band too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=97ScJfa0vJU

And quite a few of the commenters there appear to believe that Sir Ian is real. Even at the bottom of an article in which he claims the only food he got at school was a translucent, yellow gruel called 'mudge': "which reminded us of the character it was building with every tooth that clattered into our bowls".
Some people have even taken to writing him long, multi-tweet messages on Twitter.
I usually just make more and more outrageous comments to see how long it is before they cotton on.

Someone with a grudge against this guy, perhaps? At that point it became a "bomb threat". So while it shouldn't have been pursued as far as it did they had a duty to take it seriously.
( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 14:15, Reply)

That's the point.
There is a specific offense to cover 'bomb threats'. When they found there wasn't enough evidence to bring a prosecution under it, Paul Chambers was arrested and charged under section 127 of the Communications Act 2003.
Their position was never that this was a bomb threat, but rather that it was a 'menacing' message based on a provision that had been in an earlier Communications Bill to stop people harrassing female telephone operators in the 1930s.
The problem isn't that time is spent investigating things that might be bomb threats, but that, when there isn't evidence to support that one has been made, the CPS attempt to find something else to charge people with.
( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 14:45, Reply)

It wasn't a case of the Airport or Police just deciding they should take action after reading the Twitter post (which is how it's generally reported in the Press). Like I said, it shouldn't have gone as far as it did re: the CPS etc, so I agree with you. But it would be interesting to find out who ratted on him in the first place.

If everything about the Big Bang Theory were stuck in a burning warehouse, I would be the one outside throwing accellerants in through the skylight. Is it a fair rule of thumb to say that if a comedy series has more than 2-3 series, it's shit? Black Books, Bottom, Spaced, Nathan Barley (all 3 or less, and all excellent). Friends, 2 Pints Of Lager, Gavin & Stacey, Big Bang Theory, Only Fools..., My Family etc. Admitedly, there are some dreadful piles of shit that get binned after 2-3 seasons too. Ladies and Gentlemen of the jury, I present All About Me starring Jasper Carrott and Meera Syal en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All_About_Me
( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 11:53, Reply)

I thought it was a pretty spurious argument, but after thinking about it for a few minutes the only sitcom I can think of which violates your rule is Yes Minister, and even that's not THAT great.
And the 4th series of The Thick of It is on later in the year, so unless that goes shit all of a sudden, we'll be able to count that as well.

I think the 2-3 series argument is a good, as you say, 'rule of thumb' but I have to disagree when it comes to Big bang Theory. I liked it to begin with and feel it has grown, developed and got better with each series so far... and long may it continue. I think sometimes people idealize shows that only ran for a few series and focus on thier highlights where as with longer runners they focus on the lowlights. The later series of many shows that went downhill still had lots of good episodes but we tend to remember the duff ones.

( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 13:38, Reply)

have you tried watching it now. there's about 3 episodes in the whole thing that can raise a chuckle. Similarly with the Young Ones, we'd watch that over and over again until the tape tracking went nuts. I tried to watch the episode when they go to the pub recently and really struggled to make it to the end.
( , Fri 27 Jul 2012, 18:41, Reply)

I agree completely in regard to the Young Ones. I was super excited about each new episode as it came out and watched them all repeatedly for years... but now they have lost almost all their attraction and I barely raise a smile at most of it now. On the other hand I felt the same about Blackadder as it came out and I think that has aged fantastically and I would gladly watch any episode right now and always find them funny.
