Chloe Chua, aged 11 strumming "The Four Seasons" (Winter) by Tony Vivaldi. Concerto No. 4 in F minor, Op. 8, RV 297, "L'inverno"
Rabbit-hole: 2SetViolin are talented fiddlers, who make nice videos (even if you're not into classical/violins). They talk about her being "Ling Ling" - the fictional Asian-that-is-better-than-you-at-everything. They also do stuff like getting top musicians to play left-handed/double speed, explain when TV fakes playing and suchlike.
More of Chloe.
Joint winner, Christian Lee (age 10).

Rabbit-hole warning
I'm not a music expert; far from it. I don't understand the nuance of bow technique or anything else. I'm not really that interested in it.
However, weirdly, beautiful music like the above makes me cry. That's really strange, but it's just something that happens.
I think we don't need to study music to appreciate it. It's guttural, ephemeral, even illogical. I'm not interested in studying the theory, but that shouldn't preclude appreciating the result.
I think that musicians, like teachers, are greatly under-appreciated. I've really enjoyed watching "2SetViolin" recently. Sure, they are young and arrogant..but they spend like 100 hours a week practicing, and then are blown away by a 10-year-old playing far better than they can... if they hadn't put in that effort, they wouldn't appreciate her amazingness.
Maybe we can all learn from that.
Maybe not.
IDK.
It's nice music.

about the rabbit hole.
I ended up looking for more of Maxim Vengerov (via a couple of click-bait japanese vio-you-tub[a|er]-linists , and came up with this:

He's in TwoSetViolin's ""Imitating Famous Violinists". Quite fun.
I mean
a) That's a rabbbit-hole shortcut,
b) "TwoSet" are young and a bit up themselves sometimes. But hey. They're kids. They are ridiculously talented, but showcase people far more ridiculously talented. Kudos.
c) I found Maxim Vengerov down that same hole, last night. IDK anything about it, but it makes me feel all tingly downstairs.
d) I've forgotten what I was going to say for this point, Your Veng video is playing, so it's emotional.
And now, the "Ray Chan" rabbit-hole beckons...

I think all they've done is gone "oh these could really hurt someone who might also already be hurting".
....imagine calling an already over stressed cop "cancer" on the day he finds out?...
...this kind of thinking - about the real world people of your country; is what governments should be doing. Make no mistakes about that.
However what they shouldn't be doing is stopping us from saying that the black unicorn from the farside of mars is actually the cause of most insults, and that prostitution causes degeneracy. So yeah, the imagination and ethics, there shouldn't be laws on talking about those two... ever. Full stop.
(, Tue 30 Apr 2019, 23:34, Reply)
...the thought can be extended to someone who either imagines things that run parallel to society as obvious and crass political satements - such as the white-revenge fantasies found in the Turner diaries... but also; one can imagine a politician who appears to be making political statements about politics and their sociological standpoint (whatever that might be); but then chooses to mix that rehtoric with other rehtoric, such as saying "Prostitution causes degeneracy... which is a cancer on our society".
Due to the proximity of the illegal insult 'cancer' - the reality of sex workers as people and citizenry, and previously given reasons for preventing real-world medical terms being used against people in a free and egalitarian society (namely those people are emotionally vulnerable already)... well.... I mean, you can start to see some Donald Trump stuff being prevented or at least; critically addressed by these laws.

I'm currently wondering how I got peri-peri sauce on my jeans, but in 3 days I'll be the exact age John Glenn was when he first blasted off, beginning his journey around the Earth, becoming the first human to orbit the planet.
(, Tue 30 Apr 2019, 13:22, Reply)
The first human to orbit the planet was Yuri Gagarin, on the 12th of April 1961.
Glenn was the first American to do so, in February '62. (Shephard went to space in May '61, but didn't orbit.)
On the bright side, Glenn went on to became the oldest astronaut at age 77, on the Space Shuttle, so there's still hope for us.

It seems to use weird boring recent-celebrity-based examples.
Apparently Elon Musk did something or other that came to nothing and was nowhere near as important as he thought it was when he was about my age. Or any age really.

So I've been running a night in London. It's basically a curation of wicked video content from the web (and other places)
All the videos are numbered, and the audience picks digits out of a hat, to determine what gets played, and when.
PLUS there are silly games and prizes.
On and it's FREE!
If you wanna come down, just click attending via https://www.facebook.com/events/870931236587604/ (or drop me a line)
Location - The Curtain hotel, Shoreditch.
I made this vid to promote it. Sorry for facebooks.

They put the engine from a Zil into a lada?
Those engines run on anything, you can just mix petrol diesel, cooking oil, whatever and they go OK and chug along. Multifuel, designed for the military in case you didn't have your preference of fuel wherever you were taking over.
I knew of a guy with one and he had a deal buying the diesel/petrol mix from when people put the wrong fuel into their car. Got the cost equivalent of 50mpg, although those engines only do 6-8mpg from what I remember.

you are what you eat so you wouldn't change a bit!
Read a story about this sort of thing, a doctor was in a plane crash and all he had with him was his medical bag and a suitcase of heroin, because he was in cahoots with the mafia or something, and he ended up on a desert island with hardly anything to eat and nothing to make a boat from.
He decided after a while to take just enough heroin to chop bits of himself off and eat them. He decided to lose the bits that could be replaced by prosthetics easiest first and leave him with most function.
It was a story in diary form and the last few entries do a good job of showing he was going insane. He didn't get rescued.

She has a lovely relaxing voice (slightly drowned out by the horrible hiss coming off the DSLR). If anyone has any recommendations for lapel mics that might make that better I'd love to know!

The second video on the channel is labelled s01e02, so is presumably the second episode of the first of many seasons/series (delete according to taste) to come. The first is not labelled accordingly; it exists in a seasonless limbo. This one - the third upload, which seems to be unlisted - seems to be the entirety of season 103.
Yours faithfully,
