I'm going to get a dog, this year some time, I've been saying that since I was 5, but now it's gonna happen !
What kind of dog shall I go for? I don't know, nothing that can't live in a flat with a little bit of outdoors space. I'm thinking Pug or King Charles, if it's a pug I'll call it Pugasorous or Monster*, and if I get a King Charles I'll call it "Madam" or something like that.
Paws** for thought and tell me you tails** about the joy, or hell, of living with a dog.
P.S - my housemates don't know about this, I think it'll make a nice supprise for them.
* That was my dad's knickname for me.
** DO YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE?

Time to renew it, it can wait till Monday.
In other news, tomorrow is the King Of The Cats catfishing Masters championship that I qualified for. Crapping myself, but exicted I even qualified.
What bad news/good news days have you had lately?

What are a few albums you cannot stop listening to at the moment? Mine would have to be 'Showtime' by Nitzer Ebb, 'Converting Vegetarians' by Infected mushroom, and 'm4' by Faunts. Bonus points for obscurity and/or shame

What's the longest you've gone without waxing a dolphin/flicking the bean? NOT counting your pre-puberty years so don't go saying "Ooh, about 12 years"

I've just seen someone's enraged facebook update about this: he thought that the guy who paints Gazan donkeys was much more deserving of the prize, because he's done much more for the world.
What's the stupidest thing you've seen lately?

Did anyone think that Eoin Colfer came across as a bit of a twat in that interview? Especially if you compare it to Wilf Lunn's interview for example.
Edit: For those who can't be arsed/don't read the frontpage www.b3ta.com/interview/eoincolfer/

in favour of a Terry Pratchett wank-off, what are we all doing?
I have my marvellous brother staying at mine tonight. We will be watching DVDs of Hawkwind at the Treworgey Tree Fayre '89, and the Sex Pistols at Brixton last year - both of which we attended. We shall get high as kites and rather drunk and will hopefully be asleep pretty early. In the morning we are going to see my daughter whom I miss like mad.

He works right next to the train station so I dropped him there. As I pull in there's a bunch of police waving me over, turns out there's an anti-terror exercise being conducted and they take my details and have a rummage through the car. Can't look in my bags though, reasonable cause and all that. I suppose technically I could have refused the search but the only terror weapon in the car was my gym shorts.
When was the last time you were picked up by the fuzz?

I was woken up this morning to the sound of the road outside being ripped up. It need resurfacing, and I guess if they've started early it means they'll finish today, but it wasn't half noisy! If they're still there when I go home, I might make them all a cake to share. What sort of cake do you think builders would like?

When I went on holiday, I wasn't able to fit many books in my case, as a result I could only take 3.
The girl I went with took 8, and so I ended up reading half of them too. They included most of the works of Stephanie Meyer, the author of 'Twilight', the one that's been made into a film (sparkly vampires and all).
Frankly, they're fucking fantastic. Her storytelling is brilliant, and her ability to describe a situation is some of the best I've ever read, the only one better is Oscar Wilde. I got my hands on the last one last night, and ended up reading the entire thing in two sittings, only shifting for beer and toilet breaks.
Before I read the book, I thought the sparkly vampire idea was utterly wank, but now I get it, it's not quite as retarded as before. Fair play to the woman, she's managed to almost completely reinvent the Vampire and werewolf myths. It's full of pretty dark humour to boot.
Also, it's seriously violent in bits. While in most Vampire stories, it's a stake, or silver (which is still werewolves to me), in this the only way to kill them is rip them physically limb from limb, then burn the parts, or they'll reassemble. Superb.
I've still not watched the film, and don't intend on doing so for a long long time. Seriously though, I'm anticipating several of you to laugh at my choice of books, fine, it's up to you. But don't knock it till you've tried it.
In other news, what're your plans for the weekend?
EDIT: And no, I'm not one of those people who feel the need to natter incessantly to others who are reading the book, and say shit like 'OMG it's so good!' They're the reason I avoided the books in the first place.

"Let The Right One In" last night.
It's a coming of age meets vampire (but not shit) story.
Well worth a watch.

In honour of it being the first anniversary of me posting this, which I thought was a pretty cathartic experience, I thought I'd use it as an excuse to start a thread where we show off our best moments of QOTW/OT
Two of mine are here and here.
Or alternatively, you can talk about the times you've received advice as well and how it's helped you.

I am superstitious to the max.
Whenever I think of something bad [i.e. possibility of car accident, death, distruction] I have to tap wood three times.
If a black cat crosses my path when I'm driving I make three circles on the windshield with my fingertip.
I do not walk under ladders and I don't even own an umbrella.
Am I crazy? Yes. Do you have any superstitions?

Shitty Haiku about eggs in replies.

and Michael McIntyre was suggested that upper (or middle I don't remember which) people can take any word and use it mean they are drunk e.g.
"I'm absolutely gazeboed"
this has led to me pondering what the best one of these I've heard is.
I think my favourite one is when a uni mate turned to me and said "Mate, I'm fucking Mumra'd"
any gems?

As I was leaving the post office there was a fat guy in a football top and trackies walking across the road and throwing up. He didn't seem bothered about this problem, just walked and barfed his way along the street. Didn't go down one of the alleyways to discreetly vomit but just went about his business evacuating his stomach like nothing was the matter.
Quite a surreal moment.

I fucking love it.
I like it so much that it is approximately 78% of what I breathe in.
What's your favourite gas?

For example, I really like purple as a colour. Whilst I appreciate the hues and tones of other colours, purple just stands out as the most awesome of colours for me*. Somebody should write an article about it, after all, it's been around a hell of a lot longer than that Bowie song.
*Except maybe black; but technically, black isn't a colour in its own right, it's an absence of colour. I read it in a book once.

blogs.telegraph.co.uk/culture/neilmccormick/100003825/david-bowies-space-oddity-40-years-on/#
I think David Bowie is fucking rubbish, bar about three songs. But having read this utterly gay, fawning, sub-6th form fanzine drivel I dislike Neil McCormick even more.
"Major Tom opts to remain adrift rather than return to a planet where he (like so many of his generation) felt politically impotent"
Major fucking bollocks, more like.

Anyone seen any of the new season of House yet ? I watched the 2 hour season première yesterday (where House is admitted to a psych hospital) and it was fucking brilliant, one of the best things I've seen in ages.
Highly recommend getting hold of it (not sure if it's available on Sky or whatever yet).

True Blood started showing on Channel 4. I watched it and thought it was pretty good. Anyone else see it? Has anyone watched it already on satellite/illegal download? Does it stay good?
