And if audacity has a compressor, you can easily reduce the discrepancy between amplitude of the two voices.

Plus, halve your filesizes - go mono!

Not one of the settings on the ring modulation plug-in. I had the lowest settings for everything.

I think it's normalizing it afterwards which is doing it. Messing about with that setting seems to help.

Don't know what a compressor is, so I shall have a play about with it.

Quick & dirty results - set threshold to around -20, ratio somewhere in the region of 5-6. Short attack and gain.

Don't let it "make up gain" to 0db, instead maybe turn it up to -6 or so after the compression.

I added the effect this morning in Audacity using Killering plug-in on it's lowest settings. Then normaized the Dalek bits - which is the bit which seems to be causing the main problem. Changing the normalizing setting seems to be helping but I can't turn the ring modulation down any lower = everything is on the lowest setting.

my point was... with the dalek effect, the LFO is changing the frequency, or speed, of the dalek effect over time - which isn't what you want, you want it constant.

Alternatively gaz me the original recording and I can put it through Logic for ya... will take me half an hour tops.
