A question of etiquette. In two parts.
I had a piss in the shower this morning.

a) Is this acceptable practice?

b) Should I have waited until the shower was free before using it in such a way?

Any idea how much three days
Of drinking in Prague is likely to cost? I'm going there next Tuesday (subject to ash-clouds) with friends. Friends who drink lots.

Alt question: What is your single most favourite word in the whole wide world?

It's a MOTIVATION THREAD !
I've just had a meeting with someone who reckons I should be earning some serious dough, we went through figures and stuff like that, and he reckons I should be minted, dispite my illness. That because of my circamstances, I can't think about earning a proper wage working for a company, and I should just forget that idea.... but my buisness ideas are sound, he said, and my current projects are great.

But one thing that's lacking in my life is motivation, I need something to motivate me to get to where I want to be in life.

So... is there anything you do to motivate yourself every day? Do you look at your kids and want to build a future? Is there something you want to save up for that gets your mouth salivating?

Any motivation tips would be handy. Currently, I wake up most mornings, health providing, and go next door to the cafe and have some breakfast. That sets me up for the day to get started, but inevitably I get distracted and lose the plot, it doens't happen every day (losing the plot), but it happens more than it should.

Do you have anything that makes you think "Cah'mon LETS DO THIS SHIZNISS" ?
(, Wed 19 May 2010, 16:24, 66 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
All this talk of these bloody proles gallivanting down to their local ASDA in their nightclothes
makes me think we need something more highbrow. So...

Jazz Corner

Thelonious Monk: uniquely inventive pianist or sonic equivalent of a retarded child let loose on a keyboard?

John Coltrane: groundbreaking avant garde soloist or just a massive onanist using the tenor sax as a penis substitute?

Or just tell me about some jazz that you liked or thought was pretentious shit. Or some jizz, to spare you the trouble of striking through that last setence.

I just saw the best youtube comment ever
someone remarked grumpily that singers should just sing instead of 'wafting sex around like a cat on a fan.'

What have you heard recently that has made you laugh?

Alt Q: best supermarket? Or your nearest one/what that says about your town

question - what is your favourite bathroom utensil? my parents have a metal bog roll holder* in the shape of a devil, I've asked for it to a named item to be left to me in their wills.

*the holder, not the bog roll, is metal, pedants.

This story annoys me
www.cambridge-news.co.uk/Home/Estate-residents-worry-as-travellers-set-up-camp.htm

They are camped about 20 foot away from my pad and to be honest I didn't even know they were thare until this morning! also where they are camped has basically looked like a bombsite anyway, as the builders have been dumping loads of crap on it ever since I moved in, we get more trouble from the local herberts smashing up the dustbin area and riding trial bikes up and down the folly that is the guided busway.
Hurrah! I have small-minded xenophobic neighbours!

If you really want a question of sorts, recommend me some graphic novels please, I have all the usual stuff (Preacher, sandman, Alan Moore, 100 bullets, transmetropolitan,Ed Brubakers run on DareDevil, The boys etc) but some new suggestions are always appreciated

Fuck Fuck Fuck
I have done a Stupid Thing. It's a very Stupid Thing and I don't know why I did it. It could have been worse, in fact I have done many worse things, but it may have opened up a whole can of worms that I really thought I sealed up and put at the back of the shelf.
Fuck.
Edit: I'm going to watch the new episode of Glee to cheer me up. Judge me all you want. I love it.

What Stupid Things have you done recently?

I'm going to see the Levellers tonight
Playing at the Tan Hill Inn, which is the highest pub in England. Then I'm going to drink beer until four o'clock in the morning (apparently) and sleep in a tent. I agreed to this when I was very drunk and assumed it would be a weekend thing and not on a school night, so to speak.

I am now convincing myself that despite being nearly 40 I can still hack the pace. Oh yes. I shall awaken as fresh as a daisy in the morning and wonder what all the fuss was about.

Any midweek debauchery plans?

My ex has offered me a free holiday in Cyprus for 2 weeks in June.
All I have to pay is flights and food/drink. It would mean two glorious weeks with my nipper - but also two weeks with her mother....

What do I do, you odious turds?

I just paid for my honeymoon
Aside from my flat it was by far then most expensive thing I've ever bought, but what was the most expensive thing you ever bought or what was the biggest waste of money?

I've got a date.
I know some of you will be jealous, and many will be more than a little surprised, but I've managed to attract a member of the opposite sex that isn't horribly disfigured and actually seems quite normal. We haven't decided what to do yet, so what would be your ideal first date? Or how did you and your current other half woo each other?

Heartburn
Feels like there is a chunk of beef stuck in my windpipe.
Can't find the Gaviscon because I don't get heartburn very often.

I suspect I might have to kick a bit more arse in work today, but this will be a blow for the sane and the opressed.

Other than that I am in a super mood.
What's stuck in your throat this morning?

/board
I think Gonzo sums it up here: www.b3ta.com/board/10051162 As sad as recent events are, I didn't think B3ta would spawn grief-Nazis, a bit like a random bloke in the pub two days after Diana's funeral who took umbrage because I was laughing at something a mate said.

What have you found slightly irksome today?

*sadface*
I just found out Iron Chef UK has been cancelled due to poor ratings (probably because it was on at a stupid time)

What beloved TV shows of yours have been cancelled?
Alternatively make up some stuff about b3tans in tv shows in a comedy fashion like Chompy apprearing in The Office as Paperclip Salesman #1 or something.

I don't really care I'm upset that I can't watch Tom Aikins any more :o(

I need a new interesting website to browse through the day.
B3ta, Jeff Bridges and my holiday hotel site are just not enough.

Any recommendations?

The Unwritten Rules of School
Well, unwritten until now.

Any student and/or cover teacher must be abused to the point of almost quitting their job.

The school field is mown for the sole pupose of providing ammo for grass fights. (Junior school only).

Pencilcases are the correct place to out someone about their sexuality.

Chompy's thread is shit
so probably also ultimately stolen from /talk, but partly from Lampito, what 3 things would you never try?

mine are smack, tripe and men.

ME
One of the best /talk threads ever was an impression thread.
Where everyone did impressions of another user.

Seeing as you're desperate to be as good as /talk lets give it a go.

THINGS THAT WORK THAT SHOULDN'T
- Electro-swing
- Men in drag
- Cherry cigarettes

THE OPPOSITE
- Lampito

What makes you tingly that should leave you cold? And what seems like a brilliant idea, only to execute it and it ends up a disaster?

So I'm sitting in the station waiting for my train
And within about 5 minutes have been privy to: a small child running about stealing things; a woman nearly driving an old person-carrying-buggy into someone; and a man trying to subtlely look at pron mags in whsmiths. So, amuse me since i have trains, or tell me interesting tales of train travel.

MAN vs GOD.
Angkor Wat vs Angel Falls. Valley of the Kings vs the Grand Canyon. Teotihuacan vs Ayers Rock.

You get the idea. For me the works of man win hands down over the wonders of nature. I'm infinitely more interested in and impressed by, say, the New York skyline than I am by the mountains of New Zealand. But what about you, you insufferable cunts?

Busy day today, getting Piglet on the road in his own right.

Panic! In the Library
So I'm still in my university library. In as far as learning goes, two guys are making out on a raft, someone got stabbed in a tent, someone's kid's going to have a hard life if the dad dies and the friends abandon them, someone's sucking off Rome's gentry in alleyways and I feel like I'm going to die.

How do you deal with panic? I've not been able to sleep for the past few days due to worrying about ridiculous things. Things which I'm not even going to mention as they're utterly ridiculous.

ALT: In your line of work or life, what do you focus on to keep you sane and enjoying being alive?
