possibly glasscock but OH MY GOD PLEASE NO don't legitimise the rape of a beautiful language.
The day that the official spelling becomes "butiful" will be a sad day indeed.

as a dyslexic student of literature i find this disturbing
i can't spell for shit, but thats what spell-check and the dictionary were invented for.
These people are just bored sociologists with nothing better to ruin.
*edit* and incredible tolerance for idiocy
**edit edit** ROFL just noticed that the sociologist is blaming 'spelling' for the rise in single parent numbers....

It takes at least twice as long to read that text in the stupid spelling.
Fuck the children (not literally), I only care about my own ability to read. If they're too thick to learn to read, that's their fault.
And "moast"? That's making it harder to spell.

And "moast"? That's making it harder to spell.
But then it would be pronounced "bootiful"
The phonetic alphabet would have to change as well, we'd actually end up with MORE letters to make a "u" either a "oo" or a "ew" or a "eau" or whatver sound. We'd end up with more accents on vowels. If anything it would just make things more complicated.
Sounds to me like a dyslexic person got bullied at school for being unable to spell and is now trying to make the whole world like her. While we're at it let's force feed Big Macs to skinny people.

Spelling reform rears its ugly head now and again
and there are many very sound but rather dull linguistical type reasons why it is a load of cock and won't work

I think the main reason
is that it's a load of cock and won't work

I keep having this problem with firefox these days
I have to keep copying the link location into ie.
Its getting to the point that I'm considering switching back *COUGH* to ie.
Edit: is it always just that the links are wrong?

I never have any problem like that
with Firefox.
Al though, interestingly, there is an IE tab plugin - so you can view IE-only stuff from within Firefox.

Hahah - excellent.
In one of those odd coincidences, I happened to browse across 'Wayland Smithy' just yesterday on wikipedia. I'd never heard the name before yesterday, and now I see it in use less than 24 hours later. Innit creepy when that happens? I'll probably see a pub called "The Wayland Smithy" on the way home now...
