Seems to work best if you only move the camera a few inches, and then line the 2 pics up so the middle distance of the pic stays still. You can see me in a the mirror at the bottom, facing away from you, balancing the camera on something tall to get the rafters in.

everything in the frame seems to be moving the same distance, and therefore it has no perceived depth. The further away something is, the less it should move.

The best way to do it
is to take a photo, move your camera an inch to the left, but make sure you keep the same height etc. as best you can, and take another picture. Load those pics into your computer and make a GIF out of them. To turn a 2D picture into a "shimmering stereogram", split it into layers. Move the back layer left a tiny bit, the layer in front of that a teensy bit further and so on. Save that as frame 1. Then use Undo to put all the layers back, and move the back layer a teeny tiny bit right, and the layer above it a little bit further, and so on. Save that as frame 2.
