I thought they did well, got the characterisation and pacing down, and sat well with the teleplay, plus it's all just bloody bonkers which is an appropriate tone.
Good Omens was terrific too and cast superbly.
I'd say it bodes well, and a graphic novel serial must be a bit more straightforward to adapt than a novel, surely? Like, the storyboarding is all done for you..

Good omens was very entertaining
it looked like the cast had a lot of fun making it and it was very faithful to the book. If they'd not stuck so rigidly to the dialogue in the book it *could* have been better (what works well on the page of a book is less effective on the screen) but given Pratchett's death I think they made the right call. A very good tribute to the man.
American Gods is fucking mental and as much as I admire it, I can't really be bothered with it. It's just too bloody much - everyone chewing the sets every second of every scene. I may go back to it if things get too boring around here.

I love DC's depictions of hell and the afterlife; The Demon, Reign In Hell, Shadowpact, occasionally Sandman (and even Lobo)
and there's absolutely no way Netflix or anyone else could convert that good stuff to the screen without turning it to shit. Even the DCAU panel-for-panel reconstructions of the comics are shite compared to the source material.

I made this!
Silent films used to be accompanied by a small orchestra playing music, with each film having a specific score. Here I've tried to meet that requirement with a suitable pop music soundtrack.
I've been making pop music soundtracks for all sorts of films during lockdown. Die Hard got a Christmas soundtrack, War Games got an 80s soundtrack, Logan's Run got a 50s/60s soundtrack, and right now I'm working an anti-war soundtrack for 1964's Fail Safe. if the spectator run a poor review of coogan, and I point out that it's in line with the attack pieces they've been running on coogan since he gave evidence at leveson, and indicative of the falling standards of their writing (and I provided a few links to illustrate my point), then that's relevant. this was a recent article
and "shitting themselves" are prufocks words, not my own. my original post referenced early research and how geologists were worried that it could develop into a major and continual hazard. if you recall how recent eruptions have disrupted european aviation, the possibility of it developing into a regularly erupting shield volcano that sends ash clouds 8 km up into the troposphere seemed like a reasonable concern. So far it seems to be following that development path, as the above article confirms, but there's still a lot of unknowns.

That would seem scary, if that's what shield volcanoes do. They don't. You're thinking of cinder cone volcanoes.
Shield volcanoes just sit there like fat lumps oozing their contents out onto the surface (insert "your mum" joke here). They're about the most benign volcanoes you'll ever see. Mauna Kea is a classic shield volcano, and hasn't released an eruption column in forever. The worst that does is force the occasional road to be rebuilt somewhere else.

as the article states, the petrographic compositional profile is changing
as unlike the mixed partial melting of the majority of other icelandic volcanoes, this one seem to be sourced from down at the mantle boundary, possibly as an old pathway that hadn't been used for 14,000 year was reopened by a recent earthquake. So when you have varying mg mafic minerals, as stated, you have varying viscosities, and hence varying sorts of eruptions. The one characteristic of these deep sourced volcanoes is that they tend to be long lasting and bring up lots of rock, some erupting for thousands of years, so in this context I think they were talking about shield volcanoes in terms of prominence, as they are some of the largest volcanoes on earth. shield is more of a morphological descriptor, some are quite pyroclastic, or have suffered cone collapse. And even volcanoes like mauna kea and loa are in what's called their post shield phase, they had substantial large pyroclastic eruptions in their earlier phases, with large ash deposits like the pahala ash layers showing they blew their tops as good as the next volcano
