Bit weird cos it looks like You've Been Framed, but with real people injuring themselves on railway property. So that makes it funnier, I think.

More than 100k views and Scrunted over three years ago, but found this randomly first thing this morning. Quite a wake up call. Norwegian symphonic black metal and fast food clowns at their "finest".

A month since the operation, and 2 days since my cochlear implant was switched on. The whole thing felt weird and made me have a whitey. It still feels weird, but I can feel it getting better every day.

fascinating reading too :)

Mate, that's a great write-up - wonderful descriptions; I do not envy you for much of it (Especially the Mitsubishi reference, I hated coming up on those), but at the same time it is truly fascinating. Obviously you can't really ask the babies who have had it done what is going on - you are the first adult, with proper life experience I have read about having the implant.
So, what happens next? Will you get full spectrum sensitivity - or do you envisage a dual usage scenario with a normal booster loop to get you the background noises and the implant for the details - or something in between, like a loop to bring out the details out (of, for example conversation) for the implant to... well.. implant into you head ?
Good luck, stay calm!

I've really been looking forward to this and although its clearly hugely intense at the moment its bound to get better and fingers crossed for you mate.

It's times like this I take what I have for granted. It is incredibly fascinating to read on what you are experiencing. I trust you will keep us updated with your progress?
( , Fri 14 Dec 2012, 10:05, Reply)

Does the implant recognise higher frequencies better than lower? I can't imagine what it must be like. Really enjoying the posts though. If there were a /links poster of the year award, I think you'd be in with a shout, sir.

and it has been a fascinating read throughout. Good luck with the progress over the next few weeks, and I look forward to future instalments.

That's flippin' brilliant. I hope the strangeness soon becomes normality. Very best of luck to you! :)

I've been following your blog for a wee while and waiting for this post.
You're only 2 days in. Your brain is having spaz fits due to unexpected input that it has no idea how to deal with. The silence? - Just your brain having no fucking clue how to interpret the input.
But the amazing thing about the brain is that it's smart as fuck. It learns really, really quickly when it has data to process. A week, a month from now and your life will be transformed.
Looking forward to the post where you burst at crying at the beauty of a song.
Cheers

Live on German TV, 1970, when the line-up included NEU!'s Michael Rother and Klaus Dinger.

When they done the same shows in New York last year, the tickets were about £15. They aren't much more than a tribute band these days anyway. Yes, the venue is great and individual albums have a spirit of their own, but I think they're taking the piss with the prices.
( , Fri 14 Dec 2012, 0:32, Reply)

Same goes for the Rolling Stones - the money grubbing wankers.
( , Fri 14 Dec 2012, 7:36, Reply)

Great venue and it would have been nice to see them, but I'm at least 20 years too late and they're ripping it with the ticket price so sod them.
( , Fri 14 Dec 2012, 8:18, Reply)

Although I'm glad they ended up going in a different direction with their later stuff.
I saw them for the first time in Manchester in 2009 and they were pretty amazing, even though Ralf Hutter was the only member from the 'classic' line-up.

Format is on at Big Chill, or Jim Rivers at Dojo if you want something more dancey. Thekla will be full of 14 year olds, Blue Mountain will be empty and have even more overpriced drinks than the other places.
