Is the BBFC going to add a Manchild classification?

you always leave a manchild comment
it's a film for teens man, lighten up.
Looks shit, but that's what some people like to watch, I doubt they're spending every waking moment doing cosplay and sleeping in beds with Spiderman covers.

Yes, summer blockbusters have a job to do. Ant-Man was entertaining.

The best thing about deadpool is he knows he's a fictional character
so hopefully he'll be fully aware of how ridiculous everything is.
In one of the fighting games, one of his moves was to attack the other character with their own energy bar.

From what I understand of it,
people take datura from time to time, just to see what it is like. Every single one of it finds out that it's an unrelentingly awful experience, the terror of which is in no way justified by their curiosity being satisfied.

There's been lots of good films lately
You've just been watching the wrong ones.
This year so far I've really enjoyed Birdman, Whiplash, Big Hero 6 and John Wick and I haven't even been making much of an effort to see stuff.

John Wick is great if you want a good old-fashioned revenge flick.

CG doesn't ruin films
Directors who don't understand its strengths and more importantly its limitations do.
I'm not sure I've heard anyone seriously decry CGI as a bad thing in and of itself for about five years now.
(evil_andyStick stick stick stick sticky sticky stick stick, Tue 4 Aug 2015, 21:02,

I still hear it remarkably often
especially when people are going on about how the new star wars is all practical effects - it isn't by a long shot
(HappyToastGroat froth, Tue 4 Aug 2015, 21:04,

People who argue that are mental
Because I'm sure I'd have heard if they'd managed to build a Millennium Falcon that actually flew.

no, but clearly plastic and small model kits are so much more like an imaginary intergalactic space craft

He makes his point well.
Though, I'd argue limitation has always been an important aspect of creativity. CG allowing people to show more-or-less anything probably stops people searching for more interesting visual solutions.
(monkeonschmonkeon, Tue 4 Aug 2015, 21:11,

there are plenty of limitations in cg to keep fighting against
I get what you're saying about finding interesting work arounds, but the ability to fly a camera through a solid pane of glass to continue a dialogue unbroken is ace.
(HappyToastGroat froth, Tue 4 Aug 2015, 21:18,

Yes, but...
...that just redefines the practice of good film-making slightly. Limitation is still an important part of the creativity because if a director chooses to use CG to create "more-or-less anything", and does it badly/unconvincingly, he has failed in many beholding eyes. Learning how to use it wisely and combining it with practical effects & in-frame reference material introduces a new set of creative limitations for a talented director.

in essence yes, but 1- green screen isn't really the same a cgi and 2- this guy's examples of "good" cgi are pretty poor examples at times.

The "Swedish Broad Axe Mod. 1900 straight"
With a longer handle should go thought a human spine in a single chop. But I would recommend fluting it if you intend to go for a centre of mass blow to reduce suction when prying it out of the still twitching corpse. With whom do you intend to go all medieval?
