The thing is just that some challenges cause a larger amount of lower quality entries as others
but most challenges tend to get more than a few good attempts made at them. The thing to remember is that this is no different to if there wasn't a challenge anyway, you'll always get a lot of dross posted with a few gems thrown in here and there.

Hold on there buddy. What's this about Gunstar Heroes (damn i loved that game)?
1)It should have cliches, it's the gaming worlds version of a balls out action movie, all of which are built on cliches. 2)fair enough 3)See 1 6)He requires a somewaht different playstyle, which is fairly preferable in many circumstances in my opinion

That dice-bit in GunstarHeroes is my least fave part of the game.
Everything else is pure gold. 15 years down the line and in-game dice rolling has not gained any charm.

They actually did a very clever thing with the inclusion of the new character
they immediately put him up against the old character in a fight which he manages to hold his ground in, thus putting them somewhat on an equal footing and allowing the audience to accept him has a competent replacement.

you are complaining of characters
who exist for no other reason than to titillate small boys? How very rare. I understand none of this console nonsense but devil may cry looks to have at least 180% more substance than the thing with the portals.

If anything it's quite the opposite
unless of course you want to get into what actually makes good "substance" to a game, be it deep gameplay, complex game mechanics, coherent and adult stories that are well told and interesting. Or it could simply be the most important thing of "is it fun to play?"
(
StickFigureNinja is worried he may be on the list ,

I've only played DMC 1
But yes, it seemed about 180% style, which means only -80% was left for substance and gameplay.

I am finding that with No More Heroes.
It looks like an over-designed N64 game with ridiculous block shading. And plays like a mongoloid Grand Theft Auto with furious Wii remote waggling thrown in for good measure. Also the gore has been taken out making it hard to work out which age group it is actually for. The first Wii game I've disliked.
(

That sounds horrible.
I'm busy trying to work out if I can afford a PS3 for when GTA IV comes out or whether to buy a 360 or (and this is quite radical, especially for me) wait for the PC version and hope I can work out how to get the controls to work properly.

I'm sortof in the same boat...
but I am definately opting for a 360 for 3 reasons. 1) GTA IV is coming out on the 360 too. 2) It costs alot less. 3) Dead Rising (I'm a zombie fanatic)
(

I really can't be bothered with any of the DMC games.
