I was talking to a friend of a friend of mine in a bar a weekend or two ago and I had a struggle with his deaf guy accent.
Well, that was until I found out that, because of the noise in the pub masking his brogue from me, he wasn’t deaf at all – he just had the heaviest Scottish accent I’ve ever heard. Imagine how the lovechild of Billy Connolly & Rab C. fuckin’ Nesbitt would sound and you’ll be somewhere around where this guys voice was.
And to think, I can remember at least two occasions where I pub-shouted him in super slow-motion that “YOU. ARE . REALLY. GOOD. AT. LIP. READING. MIKEY.” all the while gesticulating wildly like I was playing charades in a burning house.
He must think I’m an utter spastic.
