Work in progess for a video to 'Eighth Day'. It has taken me over 20 hours and will be on screen about 4 seconds and will be seen by about 200 people. I need to get a life.

I'd love to try something like that. I played around with an open-source application called Pov-Ray...
It was very labour-intensive. That scared me away from CG.

Blender is getting better all the time
and people like Andrew Price at www.blenderguru.com and also Blender Cookie at cgcookie.com/blender/ do some great starter tutorials. Blender has particle systems like hair (as in my bee) smoke and fire, plus water/liquid also has air and wind dynamics and loads of stuff you can only find on the big licensed 3D software. It's even got Camera tracking now so you can load your own footage in and track makers make a camera solve and add your own 3D elements like in the Hedgehog clip. Well worth it after all it's not like you have to pay even a penny to get started.

I think with pov ray you can do anything, but you have to do everything
still you can script the shit out of it like anything else
must hunt out the ancient thing it's based on and render spheres over chessboards and similar 1989 style graphics

A lot of these tutorials are great
I am struggling to find stuff for technical modelling as I want to send some stuff to www.shapeways.com/ , effectively using Blender as a CAD tool. Do you know anywhere than can help?
Also, woo to your bee and hedgehog.

You mean tutorials to use Blender as a CAD?
I'm sure they exist not sure where to get that specific kind of tutorial though. there are pug ins that come packaged with Blender for accurate measurements etc. As for realistic rendering Blender now comes with the Cycles render engine which can be very photo realistic, plus you can use Luxrender and other such 3rd party renderers which give very good highly professional renders.

I will add this quote to add balance.
"There's no prospect of donors influencing government policy but we need to make sure the system does not allow the perception to arise either."
But that's all he really is - a frontman for something, that is showing itself to be quite insidious.
(asciifaceofbobbob bob bob bob bob bob bob,

That was Danny Alexander's quote, akshally
Cruddas's statement was equally straightforward though, "Clearly there is no question of donors being able to influence policy or gain undue access to politicians. Specifically, it was categorically not the case that I could offer, or that David Cameron would consider, any access as a result of a donation."
Once again, Im glad that has cleared up any suggestion of impropriety.
and will be full of kids ringing the bells all the time, OAPs who won't sit down and would rather fall down and some drunk will be pissing about with the emergency doors and drinking cans of lager at the back. /bloodybusdriversareallthesame blog

And in my experience
They start talking about pound shops and how they're amazing.
The latest one is "Is this where I scan my card?" and plonk it on top of the ticket machine
firstly the scans are to active yet and that's not how you scan them anyway so when they do become active I'm going to have to spend 5 minutes per OAP explaining how to scan their cards which means a lot of buses will be dropping out of service due to running out of time.

I was watching a bit of one of those London police in action shows last night
and they came across a group of students breaking in to an old warehouse to take photos. The police didn't believe that was what they were doing and assumed they were there to steal metal, so nicked them all for breaking and entering :D think they were released with no charge when their teacher said they were nice boys really
