Cycle to work
From the thread below, I'm intrigued to see people's routes to work on their bike. Here's mine, generally flat and about 11.3 miles. Bastard hill on the way home though...

It's indeed great, but I think the calories thing is based on it being a pedometer, i.e. walking, so when it's reporting 8000ish for a 50 mile "ride" it might be about right if you walked that maybe?

tbh, comparing and contrasting various online calorie counters
there's so many variables, from body-make up, type of bike to terrain &c. that it's impossible to accurately work out.
Still, probably best not to obsess about calories anyway.

I don't really like to see anyone upset
I don't know this girl, or anything about her really aside from the fact that she was in a successful pop group a decade ago, and had a brief solo career after that.
Assuming this video is recent, now she's got cameras following her as she tries to (re)launch her career for the express reason of catching her crying when she fails.
You can say what you want about fame-hungry, talent-vacuum media products, but I find the industry that's recently built up around documenting their falls from grace (or failures of ascension) disgusting.
Perhaps what's most distressing is that we (the TV-watching public) lap it up.

I know of an employer who has just created a 'diversity manager'...Erm, the workplace in question is already diverse. There are already people of different races, religions etc....Nobody was paying it any mind. Everyone was lovely and integrated until it was brought up, now people are concerned about the REAL reason people are or aren't employed.
