This is a link post Who should you vote for in the European elections?
Vote Match is a short quiz which aims to help you find the party that best reflects your political views in the 2014 European elections.

For the record, I got the Greens.
(, Wed 30 Apr 2014, 10:16, Reply)
This is a normal post "Your views have the most in common with more than one party"
Apparently I am identically disposed towards, the Conservatives, Lib Dems and Labour. Every single one gets the same score. So my political views aren't represented by anyone basically, so there is no point in voting because I'll end up with some twunt doing the wrong thing regardless.

We need a left wing voting option for people that want to move away from a federal EU.
(, Wed 30 Apr 2014, 10:42, Reply)
This is a normal post Best vote Green, then
This quiz assumes that your vote for a party is also a vote for/against Europe depending on that party's view, which is a bit wrong really.

Green have said they would have a referendum on Europe, though I don't know if their view is for or against and I don't know if they know either - which is the most democratic position on the subject out of the parties. If you're the figurehead (not leader) of a democracy, and you don't know what your people want, you /ask/.
(, Wed 30 Apr 2014, 10:57, Reply)
This is a normal post Greens support a referendum?
I'll have to look into their other policies then.
(, Wed 30 Apr 2014, 11:13, Reply)
This is a normal post I may be wrong about this (as I often am!) having just looked up their policies myself
They are in favour of the EU, but not in its current form which they consider "unsustainable" and not "for the people"... http://policy.greenparty.org.uk/eu

And Caroline Lucus' amendment to the referendum motion here: http://greenparty.org.uk/news/yes-to-an-eu-referendum-green-mp-calls-for-chance-to-build-a-better-europe.html

So they support the referendum on EU but would like to stay in and reform it.

This is a normal post I got Green then Lib Dem
but unfortunately I couldn't actually vote Green as some of the issues I feel most strongly about I oppose them on (especially GM food, where their policy is entirely emotive and rejects solid science). I know several Green activists, and I like them. But I also think their positions on anything scientific tend to be ridiculously Luddite.

I fear this makes me a Lib Dem...

This is a normal post It's good, but with a fairly middling understanding of piano-playing, it's quite easy.
The bass line is largely repetitive and the rest is all various scales and arpeggios which you can learn in an afternoon.

However, it looks the fucking nuts and people think you're a fucking genius, so it's probably the best value piano you can learn.

Getting the left hand to reliably keep that bass line going on autopilot while the right fannies about on the scales and arpeggios takes a fair bit of practise.

This is a normal post haha! that was adorable.
though. what they did not show you was the glutinous thing leaping to its death off the counter and dying.*

*sorry... i became too attached to too many of my kids hamsters. one cost 4 sheets of drywall repair in two rooms because it got into the walls. it died 3 weeks later of a heart attack whilst having its waterbottle changed. hamsters are shit pets.

This is a normal post I had one when I was younger.
It had an amazing ability to escape its cage every night. It got stuck behind the fire, in the walls, under the floorboards. In the end it died of shock when it encountered one of the cats on the landing. Shit pets.

This is a normal post i actually attempted CPR on a hamster
(using a tiny drink stirrer) ... the dog merely walked by whilst it was in its rolley ball thingy caused it a seizure... lets say, that did not work out very well.

This is a normal post Great find. Nice stuff.
I remember seeing similar curiosities when I got out of Tokyo and into the sticks. The remaining locals in these rapidly declining and ageing depopulated towns and villages would do some wonderfully creative things with these abandoned spaces. Often to attract tourists and draw young folk back but there's always that melancholy there. Natsukashi.
