Oxford Circus is naturally going to have a higher proportion of people from out of town going through it, but I don't think that's the whole story. We reacted to the 2005 bombings in that way, but somewhere along the way since then we seem to have lost composure.

Soz - I only do cryptics. You'll just have to bone up. :) This isn't a bad primer: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2010/may/03/how-to-solve-cryptic-crossword
I'll do a Crude Cryptics sweary xword primer when I get a chance. Some common conventions are emerging, e.g. 'fucking'/'fucked up' as an anagram indicator, 'hole' for letter O, etc.. :)

1) Buy Tim Moorey's book: www.amazon.co.uk/Times-How-Crack-Cryptic-Crosswords/dp/0007546521
2) Buy The Times and do the Quick Cryptic
3) You'll be able to do that pretty well after about 5-6 weeks; then have a crack at the main puzzle. Mondays are generally (but not always) easier.
Plus, once you've finished, you're left with what remains a (mostly) decent newspaper.

Cept your firms target fucking children because they have to get them started young.
At the time you were working for them BAT was caught actively giving out "samples" of cigs to kids at African youth events.
But if you don't give a fuck about the African kids have some UK figures.

( , Fri 24 Nov 2017, 11:12, Reply)

You always have a choice. Sure handing out fags to kids is stupid behaviour, which is why they've rightly stopped. That having been said, I remember getting people to buy me booze and fags when I was 13 because kids will be kids.
( , Fri 24 Nov 2017, 11:22, Reply)

You have to submit to addiction. After that, you've made your choice.
Using the concept of "addiction" to justify anyone's actions is bullshit though.
If you like a bit of the smack (or whatever the fave of the kids is these days) and you go mug someone to get the cash for that? That's you making the direct moral choice that your enjoyment is more important than someone else.
Addiction has become a catchall excuse for any bad behviour when it's up to everyone to be personally responsible.
Is Harvey Weinstein a poor misunderstood sex addict, or a rapist sex pest who's trying to excuse his morally repugnant behaviour?

Opiate abuse is a socio-economic issue. Look at the reasons for people abusing not the people doing it. There's a reason that opiate abuse is pretty much constrained to one class in the UK and that's nothing to do with people pushing or otherwise, its because of a lack of education, lack of social mobility and lack of opportunity (all of which you Brexitwunts have made worse). The dealer in nearly all cases was a user first.
Comparing Opiate abuse to having a ciggie isn't quite as stupid as cerebus' false equivalence, but it's getting there.

AOC used to be 16 when I was a kid. Funny that drinking was 18 but smoking 16 for some reason. Why was that? You might know being pally mates with Ken.
Know what that means to have those 2 years difference?
It means you've got kids in schools that have legally bought fags and handing them out to younger kids for their lunch money. It meant that since I was 13/14 I could pass for 16 and buy cigs.
Took untill 10 years ago for it to be made 18 despite the lobbying of the cunts you've worked for.

Glasgow seriously got it's act together and started loving itself again.
It helped that 92 was the start of the big upswing, but I genuinely thin it made a difference

Leeds gave you Jimmy Savile, Peter Sutcliffe, Chris Moyles, The Pigeon Detetectives and Super Gonorrhoea.

Being disqualified from the competition would surely have been a bigger risk than losing it.

Well, I couldn't if it weren't for the fact the Australia seems to be allowed in the Eurovision Song Contest and that's just fine somehow

(one might argue that Russia/Iceland/Turkey aren't entirely European either).
And anyway, it's only because the EBU (a collective of TV stations) is based in Europe, but has worldwide membership.
Fun fact: most of (ex-French) North Africa are automatically allowed to enter the contest too.

ECoC is open to: EU, EFTA and EEA members. Also countries applying for EU membership.
It became clear in the last few weeks that the UK still plans to leave the EU and not join EFTA/EEA. And anyway, if the UK did try to start joining EFTA/EEA today, it'd take over 5 years to become a member anyway.
The cities were stupid enough to spend hundreds of grand on something that they're ineligible for. If they'd already started the bidding process and not quite the moment that Art50 was enacted, then that's entirely their own stupid fault.

Except mine rotated about the orthogonal real axis at the same time.

because I momentarily saw one on the M6 near Stoke On Trent in one of the 1986s.
I don't have a copy of Mathematica otherwise I'd give you some vectors in Hilbert space.

and I've more band-width to handle that signal

With a four-dimensional object you can apply two rotations at the same time and they're completely independent of each other. The maths is actually easier.

But why? Can't a vector be a rotation in space - of what ever dimension you decide? something something matrices something vector something -- Mum! - what's a tensor transform?
