Right Said No Dead Thread, as the last one seems to not have much conversation.
I've been watching and enjoying Oz recently, really enjoying it so far, I'm just up to S04 now. I'm not sure what telly series to watch after this, maybe Supernatural, as I've heard good things about that. I also would like to go through Lost, last time I got up to the bit where the submarine blew up. In fact, that sounds like a jolly good idea, I'll see if I can find it cheap on DVD. I like buying DVDs so I can easerly watch them wherever I am, and I can also lend them out to mates.

I'm doing something genuinly exciting for me at work, something that'll be seen by a rediculously large amount of people and give me such serious kudos, I might inject an easter egg into it. I did a proof-of-concept in my own time two weeks ago and it's gotten the company excited to give it a trial, which if this works, will be on the facebook pages (the actual pages, not just a single post) of some major big brands.

I've started reading American Gods, it's quite good so far.

Back briefly again
As a couple of you asked me to let you know when I became a dad.

Our daughter Imogen Delphi was born on Saturday at 4.45pm weighing 7lb 8oz after a 42 hour labour. Was able to take them home today after Mrs Battered had finished having blood transfusions etc.

Hope all is good with you all.

TV and online.
I've been dipping into various documentaries on iplayer, but every time I look at the ITV listings my stiff upper lip quivers a little. What do you watch on the teevee? Do you watch stuff online like on iplayer and that too?

In the wake of these recent riots some people are saying that 'society has failed' etc etc.
Is this massive overreacting? The lower orders have kicked off periodically throughout history and drunkenness/street crime in London is I am sure considerably less prevalent than it was in, say, Victorian times. A glance at Hogarth's 'Gin Alley' suggests this to be so.

The standard of living for the urban 'poor' is probably higher than it's ever been. Should everyone simply shut up and stop making more of it than it necessary (yes, YOU 'the media'), or is it indicative of THE END OF DAYS???

Apologies for lack of computer games

Cheers.

Introvert or extrovert?
As the previous thread has degenerated into talking about homous...

I had always assumed that I was an extrovert, because I can be quite loud in social situations.

Then I was told that I have the wrong definition of extrovert and it's actually about being self/other centred, So I figured that makes me an introvert as I am quite self-centred. Then I was told it was more about where you draw strength from, yourself or others, so now I'm back to extrovert again as I am much happier around people than one my own.

So, which are you? Do you need people or are you happiest alone? Do you centre on your self or on others?

Alt: Why are all the people I like on Facebook which I detest, meaning have to have 2 whole FB accounts?

Are there any nice people out there?
Does anyone want to give me a place to live? Hurricane Irene flooded out my mother in law (they took her from her home in a boat) and she is living with us until we can figure out new living arrangements for her. She is insane, a raging alcoholic, crazy, nuts, and did I say insane?

Howdy from the NE US as I sit on my back porch listening to the comforting sound of people using chain saws to clean up downed trees late into the night.

Hello, long time no see for a lot of you.
Tell me what you've been up to/future plans for world domination as I love threads like this. Lying if you're a chubby shut-in is optional.

I qualified as a veterinary nurse a few months ago after working as a student for 4 years and attending college one day a week for 2 years. I now work in an animal emergency hospital in London and I love it. I'm supposed to be camping with friends in Kent right now, but have a rubbish cold so decided to stay in bed and catch up on some rest instead. I really neeeeeed to buy some new bras as all of my current ones either no longer fit or have gone an odd colour. My fancy ones are just not suitable for every day use, so they sit neglected in a drawer most of the time. I need to quit smoking. I'm loving the new series of Breaking bad and the US version of Wilfred. I want to take up Kung fu, but am struggling to find a reputable place within an hour's travelling distance to go to. I was going to go back to Kendo, but being back in the hall a few weeks ago for an hour reminded me that I wasn't that interested in it to begin with and it's bloody expensive.

Edit: Ooh It's my b3taday!

Alt: What are you loving right now?

Afternoon drinking is bad
I have little reserves of sobriety to call upon and it's only not very late.

Discuss, if you wish, but don't expect much constructive input from me.

OK, ok, I'm not sure if I'm being crazy or stupid or retarded or amazing or whatever, I don't know.... I just don't know.
But someone just pointed out to me how much cheaper property is in blackpool, and that got me thinking, "Why should I spend [a hell of a lot], not having enough money to do it up entirely, having choose between safety, convinance, space or outdoors space.".

So, I'm thinking more and more, for a good few hours now, and...

North London
- Near me Ma', so when in trouble, I can get lifts and all that.
- Property will only go up in value, mostly, or static, eaither way, won't really be a problem.
- I know the area quite well, so know where not to go to at night and all that.
- Wouldn't have the budget to do it up nicely.
- Won't have any outdoors space.
- I'll be a bit static in terms of my personal growth, maybe a new place entirely will do me good.
- I have all my friends and family here.
- Depending on what area, might have to change my GP, who is very good to me.

Brighton
- I <3 Brighton
- Loads of amazing shops and resturants and bars and pubs
- Would need to find a new social scene.
- Would have to find a new GP and possibly maybe new hospital.
- Travel into work would cost about twice as much.
- I could probably knock about 40% off what I was going to spend to get more, but still be able to do it up how I want _and_ see the sea every day.
- They say sea air is a good cure for chrones and chronic down-in-the-dump'ism.
- Wouldn't be near me Ma'.
- Might have to find new work if the travel is too much, but I don't think it would be, plus with my line of work I can work from home.
- My expenses, minus travel, are greatly reduced.
- I'm not entirely sure about getting a flatmate in, I like it, I like it a lot, but maybe my own space would be good too....... maybe get a dog instead?
- There are quite a few b3tans from there, so I can make friends.

I'm off to a barbecue later
QUESTION: When a friend has a barbecue:
1. do they provide all the meat and sides and bread;
2. does everyone bring some meat and sides and bread and mix and match;
3. everyone brings their own meat and sides and bread and there is UN class negotiating to occasionally swap a speciality sausage for a homemade burger.

I suspect that as people age they progress from 3 to 1 via 2. My mates are still on 3 but loosening up a little, I suspect if your group includes a weapons-grade moocher it might stick at 3 for a long time.

Long thread is long.
You've got £10k to spend on something nice, you're not allowed to pay off _any_ debts with it, what you don't spend gets given to a charity, one that you hate.

Cars, we've never talked about cars before
I would love an original 1965 Porsche 911 for my own money or a Ferrari 250 Calirfornia if I was uber rich.

What would your dream car be? Or do you hate cars?

Alt: branded clothes, waste of money or statement of your style?

Where is everyone this morning?
8am and barely a peep out of anyone. Are you all on long bank holiday weekends and still in bed?

A real question: What are you planning on doing with your 3 day weekend? I work shifts so I'm working Saturday and Sunday, fun fun fun

Worst trip to a video shop ever
So I figured I'd go rent out some videos for my digital collection.

She scanned them in. Got it wrong. Unscanned it all. Scanned it all in again. Broke their system as she'd scanned it in under a differently wrong section. Unscanned it all. Rescanned it. Somehow managed to get the wrong price, overcharging me by two pounds. At this point I was willing to take the hit just so I could get out of there but no, her interfering fucking manager sees this and makes her do it again.

She was saying sorry over and over and over, which somehow managed to make the whole experience even more unpleasant whilst I just stood there with my head in my hands.

"Sorry about all that" she said, once she'd finally finished torturing me
"It's ok. I'm just glad you're not a surgeon".

What appallingly incompetent people have you had to put up with recently?

Alt: Freefair.

What's going on, /OT?

Alt: What classic (by which I mean 20th century) TV series should be remade? Who would star in it, and how would it improve with 21st century production values. I'm talking 'Dr Who' style improvements.
