i got the 350D
great camera, what I did is buy an adapter to fit the FD lenses from 1980... they're manual focus but hey thats the fun of photography right? put it this way a 500mm lens cost me £60 (i think can't rmemebr) where the modern equivlant is £4000 - which one am i going to buy? Nice pics as per usual Jahled

Here is a very good place to roam:
www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/ I actually have got to know the guy, and he's lovely, and not in Canon's payroll. His reviews are surprisingly accurate. For landscapes you want something nice and wide, though with a 400D I would watch your pennies; it would be pointless to splash out on an L-lens on a non full-frame body :)
(
Jahled Three shades of black ,
Sat 9 May 2009, 20:05,

I must admit to being a complete newbie here
so I don't actually know what 'L-Lens' and 'non full frame body' mean! I just had some spare cash and bought the 400d and now want to do more with it than take snaps!
(

Canon, like Nikon, is a good brand given their lens ranges are so extensive at all levels
Canon with the most versatile range L-lens' are simply the best glass they produce, but come at at hideous cost. I spent £10K last year, and am making inroads on that this year Full frame is a 'classic size' the camera shoots; most cameras are cropped; Wikipedia it :)

Thanks for that!
The last 'serious' camera I had was a Zenit E (SLR on the cheap) back in the 70's! so it's all new now!

I'm going to look like a twat for this.
but... The focal point looks under-exposed. Don't you use a flash fill? It looks a bit flat to me but a quick bit of processing can add some life to it ( if also a bit of license regarding actual colour )Click for bigger (236 kb) Or am I talking out of turn again?

Standard procedure for
backlit subject shots would be to have a filling flash though? Was when I went to school anyway ;) I just don't like subjects with little contrast, but then that's me I suppose.

Saw it just last night, enjoyed it immensely, the time sped by! I think maybe they saws Serenity and thought 'We'll do that, but MOAR!!'
Was most annoyed that Shalroth had his £300 worth of camera nicked off him by the staff (we'd been taking pics of a house for a friend thinking of moving) with nowt so much as a receipt nor any assurance whatsoever, then had to track it down afterwards and the 'security' guy just said 'Is it this one?' and handed us it with no interest WSE in whether we could prove it was ours nor describe the contents of the case or anything. 'No, it's that £600 one next to it, cheers, ooh, and while you're at it, can I have that iPod Touch?' Fucking set of wankers. Least we got it back I guess, but I'm pretty sure the actual legalities of that are dodgy and I'd love to know what they'd do for us if it HADN'T been returned safely.
